Sophon Cable TV reported that corrugated iron fencing had been erected yet again on a  300 meter stretch of North Pattaya beach.

The area was supposed to have been sorted with a 400 million baht budget for sand and other repairs.

But now the stretch from the Dusit Thani heading towards South Pattaya is off limits.

And Sophon said it looked like it would stay that way until March at the earliest.

One poster on their Facebook page bemoaned the constant problems in the area saying that they would probably have to wait until their next reincarnation before it was fixed.

More specifically in the previous three (3) threads on the topic our experts from the TVF Bureau Of Coastal Engineering already did a thorough analysis identifying ALL the causes (Mr. Old Growth Trees weighed in strongly) and THE best and by far the fastest, cheapest permanent solutions. Inferior Thai engineering was of course denigrated as usual as it has been here already. And the world-renowned TVF Tea Money Chorus chanted the chants, our Brown Envelope Bots buzzed on cue. In general, the mighty TVF Pointing Finger Of Justice has been aroused and is on this case 24/7, not to worry.

Hence, nothing new to say here. It's finished when it's finished, if ever. Shall we close the thread now?

Gravity wins...

Looking at that beach there seems to be a a steep drop off.

Best solution would be to make a under water wall out off oversized heavy duty sand bags to retain the beach.

(Top of wall should be no less than 1.6m below spring tide low water mark so no none swimmer could walk off into deep water...)

Pattaya is not a beach resort, it is simply a booze and sex venue.

Anyone going there for the beach and a family holiday must be sadly deluded or seriously misinformed.

The erosion is as bad as Ive seen it now. And it makes no difference where they put the new sand: on, in back of,  in front of .

As long as this deposited sand ( like the sand that was in the 600 giant sandbags and spread out last November, that is gone)

is in the path of the Northerly (winter) wind driven currents and waves. The sand is going down the river.

The only permanent solution is to construct rock jetties/ breakwaters that are designed by  qualified  foreign engineers.

So since that does not look like its in the program, this new project is doomed.

.

correct my friend...and every new project means another opportunity for the greedy city of pattaya and their flunky pals to $$$$

Best solution, IMO, is to make a permanent sea wall well out to sea, and fill it with sand to make a wide, permanent beach. I've seen such in England, and people love it, with volley ball courts and such. Could have concerts on it as well.

Should go around the illegal hotel sea wall as well so access can be gained to Naklua beaches. Since the concrete walk way collapsed years ago there is no way to walk around.

Lose the swimming, but no one should be swimming in that sewage anyway.

Strangely, they didn't have the same problems in the 90s, far as I remember. Only difference since is that they cut down lots of the big trees. Co incidence?

Personally I'm lovin' it, as hopefully it's keeping the families and rich people away.

Anything that slows the destruction of the city is good news to me. They need to build lots more Waterfronts and have them abandoned too. All good for someone that liked Pattaya as it used to be.
