Trump says arming teachers could prevent school massacres

Just listen to what he said the teachers will "retired marines, air force, army, coast guard, shooting event winners  or ...whatever".  First of all all of the above would most likely not be qualified to teach as a college degree is required with special credits to qualify them and maybe the "whatever", as Jimmy Kimmel said" is the guy from the carnival that had the big hammer and rang the bell.  He could be equipped with a giant mallet and give the shooter a big "bonk"!  His problem is that he has been told by the NRA to stuff his statement about raising the age to 21.:stoner:

There shouldn't be an attack to start with, just like in civilized countries who have gun control.

What a stupid idea.   What's next? Issuing a handgun to kindergartners for self-protection?   Sadly, it is because US politicians don't have the balls to do anything.

2016 the NRA contributed a bit over $1 million.

There were over 100 INDIVIDUAL contributors to the Democrats in the same cycle who contributed at least 2x that. And they were overwhelmingly bankers/financers.

So each NRA member chipped in roughly 20 cents. It is an interesting case study though; when it's a large group being quite out spent the individual rights should matter. But when it's an election the converse is true...screw the electoral college which protects the minority.

Really?

NRA spent more than reported during 2016 election

The NRA told the Federal Election Commission it spent $55 million during the 2016 election cycle...

But two NRA sources told McClatchy that the group spent even more -- close to $70 million, and perhaps much more...

That's big money, 50 times what the "Russians" spent.

The police state is getting closer day by day, just to protect the second amendment fans. Teachers with guns, how low can a country go.

Unfortunately under the current part time and temporary WH inhabitant along w/ his Republican cabal I feel it can go much lower. America is slowly becoming un recognizable, but more and more corrupt. Funny that the NRA doesn't pay taxes:

Having a few guns in lock boxes is doable. Doesn't have to be a teacher necessarily, could be someone in a different job. Perhaps a janitor or two, a counselor perhaps. Pay them accordingly for added responsibility, yearly gun quals and tactical shooting training.

Makes perfect sense...not. Nothing like collateral damage to ease the pain and suffering.

In gunfights, trained officers have 18 percent hit rate. Yet, we want to arm teachers?

The New York Police Department is the nation’s largest police force and among the best trained, yet its own study showed between 1998 and 2006, the average hit rate was 18 percent for officers in a gunfight.

Does a low hit rate mean Police shouldn't be armed as well?

More emphasis should be placed on the WHY in school shootings. Sort of like curing obesity by taking away a person's spoon and fork. Or perhaps fat people are only allowed tiny eating utensils. Or perhaps fat people could be banned from purchasing certain foods. You do see where I'm going with this.

My point is that if police officers have an 18% hit rate, what will hit rate will the average teacher (or janitor) have? Even if that teacher and janitor is trained are you expecting a better hit rate than the police? No. The answer is not more bullets flying around from non-police officers whose first duty is to the education of students not police and firearm duties.

And in the future, Trump will blame the teachers for not having the courage to arm themselves with guns and defend students too? Heck there was already one armed guard, and 3 police who stood outside of the school who did nothing. Teachers should just teach, their job is not to be armed so they can protect students. The society does not need to become an armed society, putting guns in everyones hands just to feel safe.

Speaking of arming teachers, how about this guy who managed to wrestle a gun away from a shooter.  Look what happened to him....

[On the morning of Feb. 14 — the same day as the Florida school shooting that killed 17 kids and teachers — Garces wrestled a handgun away from a man who had entered the chapel at Faith City Mission and threatened to hold church attendees hostage.

But a responding officer fired at Garces, striking him twice — once in the back and once above his collar bone, his lawyer, Jeff Blackburn, said in an interview.]

Imagine police officers arriving at a school and seeing some guy (teacher) firing away with a pistol.

Good idea. Ha! Those students are gonna be a bit more respectful looking down the barrel of a 9mm beretta. Pretty useless if someone comes in with a semi-automatic bump-stock. But hey, what the hell. Personally I'd go for a double-barreled sawn off shotgun hidden under the desk (collateral damage <deleted>, it's my lufe at stake here) and a shoulder holster tomahawk, the ankle knife goes without saying.

More info.

Problem solved.............. get this five times draft dodger to run into the school. A liar an idiot and a coward.

Guns in school could work if implemented properly.
