webfact
Well known Hua Hin doctor arrested for doing illegal abortions Picture: Daily New A prominent Hua Hin doctor has been arrested for doing illegal abortions. The serving of an arrest warrant on Dr Srisamai Cheuachart, 55, follows the finding of four fetuses dumped in the trash outside a convenience store on 13th February last. Dr Srisamai is the former director of Sam Roi Yot Hospital and currently works in obstetrics and female health at Hua Hin Hospital. She denies the charges. Her house in the Ruam Suk housing estate was searched yesterday as police visited the Srisamai clinic at the end of Huay Monkhol Soi 11 on the Hua Hin to Nong Phlub Road. A worker at the clinic was also arrested. That person is believed to have dumped the babies' bodies in the trash near the doctor's house. Dr Srisamai has been bailed by the court. Dr Surin Seubseung said that no action has yet been taken by the medical council as the matter is now in the justice system. Popular Post d2b2
Wherever you find abortion illegal, you will find women forced to become criminals. It is man’s world. If men were the ones getting pregnant, 7-11 would carry abortion pills over the counter. 9

As it happens, abortion is not illegal in Thailand - though it is not as freely available as in the West. http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2017/03/03/abortion-thailand-safe-legal-may-thought/ If men couldget pregnant, I suspect most would opt to use easily-available birth control or the morning-after pill rather than go through the trauma and expense of a medical or clinical abortion.

Stargeezr
The doctor has the lazy worker to blame for dumping the fetuses, and not taking them somewhere for a proper burial. Sad that women have to still get abortions, but I would blame who ever was so lazy as to treat the fetuses as garbage. Hope the doctor gets off with a fine, like the rest of the criminals seem to do. If you read that article, it does not say that abortion is legal in Thailand - and it isn't. What it correctly says is that the exceptions to the law making abortion illegal are broadly-enough defined that it should be relatively easy to find a way to get an abortion without breaking the law. Edit: Sorry, I misread the article - it does actually say that abortion is not per se illegal. However I think that may be a typo and they meant to say that it is per se illegal, it's just that there are enough exceptions that can make it available. If it's not a typo, then they've got it backwards. The first part of the criminal code regarding abortion says that any woman who has an abortion and anyone who solicits an abortion will be imprisoned and/or fined. It then goes on to list the exceptions to this which, especially in light of the recent ruling broadening the scope of the exceptions, should make abortion fairly easy to obtain legally. You may be right about the typo, but the bottom line is that if a woman who want them can get an abortion in Thailand without going to some back street quack.
