More supply of electricity to Koh Samui

Interior Minister Aree Wong-araya is scheduled to visit Koh Samui district of Surat Thani province tomorrow (Jan 24) to preside over the opening of the 115 KV transmission line project. The minister will also check the progress of the bio-diesel project in Surat Thani’s Kanchanadit district. He will arrive at Koh Samui Electric Plant tomorrow at 10 AM.

Koh Samui district-chief officer Decha Kangsanan said the economy of Koh Samui has grown continuously and the demand for more electricity is increasingly. As a consequence, the Provincial Electricity Authority will construct 115 KV transmission line project to support the public and the business sector in Koh Samui. The line will link from Khanom district in Nakhon Ratchasima province to Koh Samui district.

Mr. Decha said the project to upgrade Kanchanaphisek Conference Hall to an international conference hall will also be proposed to the Interior Minister tomorrow, following the abolishment of the CEO budget. He said other proposals concern the renovation of tourism routes and the organization of the National Youth Games. The event will be held on March 20th to 30th, 2007 in Surat Thani.
