ENT or Otolaryngologist specialist Pattaya for SSHL

Featured Replies

Trying to establish whether any local expats have good knowledge of the best Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists specifically specialising in Otolaryngology to get the best treatment for Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (sudden hearing loss deriving from the inner ear - cochlea region)?  I have gone to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and saw the ENT doctor there albeit several days past the 'Golden hour' (48 hours) to stop all hair cell death in the inner ear from compressed/swollen auditory nerve.  After an audiology test confirmed SSHL he has put me on oral Prednisolone, Betahistine and multi B vitamins.  Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy was not suggested, however after reading the benefits of HOT in conjunction with the corticosteroid treatment, I rushed to Bangkok (Yan Hee Hospital) for 5 days of 2 x hour HOT sessions (massively less expensive than Bangkok Hospital Pattaya).   From what I have read online the other more direct and possibly more effective treatment is for the intratympanic steroid injection (into the ear) and as I approaching the third week of the 30 day window where after it is assumed no hearing recovery can occur I am wanting the best possible chance of some hearing recovery.  I have heard of other treatments as well but wanted to make sure I am doing everything I can do for the best chance.  Hoping there are some expats here who have gone through same ordeal or have knowledge of treatments?
