Well, to be fair, there are A LOT of accomplishments the current lot can point to:

 

--more tanks, ships and submarines than Thailand has bought in a long time to deter all those foreign threats.

 

--Generals, admirals and the like are in charge of virtually every government ministry and agency.

 

--There probably are more inactive posts in Thai government than ever before.

 

--The police are far more focused on monitoring Facebook posts than they've ever been before.

 

--The Friday night comedy show on TV gets far more laughs than any Thai sitcom.

 

--Ahh, someone NOT named Thaksin is in charge.

 

Beyond that, well, I'm searching....

It is never a good idea to speak for people, let alone 60 million of them, if you can't possibly back up that claim. Considering the way some of the laws have been drafted, it is crystal clear the junta does not share your claim.

 

As to doing a far better job, some of the relevant figures  paint a different story.

No need to get upset. Im just stating the obvious. There are not enough tanks and bullets to stop a popular uprising. Educate yourself ..look at recent history..countries like Eygpt and many more before you use a broad brush to label Thais as cowards.

While he does not need to get a majority of votes, he still needs to have enough minority votes through Junta-friendly parties in order to be able to block the normal process:

When and if there's an election there's no way he'll lose. If it happens he does or if it looks like he will the military will stir the pot legitimising them retaining power or staging another coup. If 60 million Thais supported the junta it would have called an election long ago.  Instead it made it illegal to call for elections. 

 

Uprisings have to be organized, and the junta is doing a good job of repressing all attempts at organizing one.  It's just that simple.

I am not surprised he would try to get in as an appointed PM, I was however surprised he could not run in the election. 

 

I thought that he could.. others now say he can (im still unsure on that point).
