Aren't Tourist Police supposed to be the friendly authoritive  face of Thailand for Tourists if they have an unfortunate experience on holiday. ... ...helpful and supposedly there to assist?

More like a specialist SWAT squad to single out foreigners and go after them!

Well, if they are criminals they deserve to be prosecuted, punished and deported.  All of the things they have been doing are jobs that can be done by Thais.

It is just a bit disturbing that they are only going after black and brown foreign criminals.  There are plenty of white and yellow foreign criminals operating in the Kingdom who also deserve their attention, not to mention the vast number of Thai criminals in and out of uniform.

"foreigners have behavior that is affecting the stability of the country" that "starts with illegal entry and illegal stay in the Kingdom".

These are throw away lines when no example of how the stability of the country has been effected.

Whatever it is they’re doing doesn’t really matter. First and foremost they must get attention and pictures of themselves in the news. Everything else comes a distant second.

u mean  a  distant  last  i  think?

Those dastardly religious men, undermining the security of the country.

Were they praying without a work permit?

You are a fine example over a character that just do not se reality. No, they were not praying without a WP. They are doing far more illegal things.
Also I must ask you the question. Do you prefer having high foreign criminality in Thailand or not?

Here's an idea. Have a crackdown on teachers with fake documents no matter what colour there skin is. Working with fake docs. is a criminal offence after all.

The only crackdowns here last for 24 hours, so that would not be enough.

should we, long stay expats, be worried about efforts like this ? i believe we should, simply due to the prevailing thai attitude that anyone not thai is a tourist; how can these tourist police make an accurate snap judgment that we are either tourist or long-stay expat ? they can't, as a result we are ever more subject to harassment as an easy vent to their racism

.....You'd better start using skin whitener like the Thais.

He says many are masquerading as international school teachers and footballers to commit crime

Surachet said most of the suspects were "coloured" people working for football clubs or as English teachers, while some were Catholic priests.

Even when we "long time stayers"are usually law abiding citizens, the whole story leaves a very bitter taste.

Be careful if you are a football player, an English teacher, or a Catholic priest.

I don't believe that there is any thing to worry about because I am not an illegal or an overstay or working without a work permit but I do obey the immigration laws of Thailand and I do carry my passport which when asked for it shows that I am a long stay expat. It is only those that do not want to obey the laws that should be worried. So YetAnother why are you worried? What are you doing wrong?

Maybe because we are also foreigners? And there's no doubt that we foreigners have to fight with more and more Thainess pure.

Thailand is no different to anywhere else in the world in regards to foreigners, with tourists overstays, tourist illegally working, it happens in the US, UK, Europe and Australia. If you are not breaking the law then what is there to worry about. If you are going to worry about something that you can do nothing about then you will have a miserable life here in Thailand.

The last foreigner tourist police I saw was last week, entrance of Walking Street at a traffic stop (helmets, paperwork, ect).

He was Arab looking, wearing a Darth Vader type facemask and a black T-shirt at least 1 size too small.

Didn't look like a friendly face at all, more like a gym freak with a hard on for other foreigners.

So, obviously I ignored him and delt with the Thai traffic police.

They were weary but ok.
