Ed visa extension for working?

Hi,

 

I currently hold an education visa, however I have been offered a teaching position, so I am wondering if I am able to stay in the country and get an extention on the visa for the purpose of working and then obtain a work permit, or would I have to leave the country to get a non b visa? The school say they are able to assist with this, however I have read that I would not be able to convert my visa type within the country, is this indeed the case? It also seems to be the case that getting an extention on an ed visa for the purpose of working isnt likely, so is it most likely that I will have to leave the country in order to get a non b visa? I appreciate any help.

If you look on a tourist Visa it says "employment prohibited" or something like this. So you could check if your ED Visa also has such a note.

yes employment is prohibited on an ed visa, but I read that it may be possible to get an extention, which would allow you to work, but i think this may not happen often
