Couples to sign marriage registration on backs of elephants in Surin province

Surin (สุรินทร์) Provincial Administration Organization has invited interested couples in joining one of Thailand's most amazing wedding ceremonies, to exchange vows on an elephant's back. The ceremony will include signing of marriage registration on elephant's back on Valentine’s Day (Feb 14th) at Ta Tum (ท่าตูม) District.

Mr. Thongchai Mungchareonporn (ธงชัย มุ่งเจริญพร), the chief of Surin Provincial Administration Organization, said that the province plans to hold a fair on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.

The purpose of the fair is to promote culture and tradition of Surin people. In addition, couples joining the fair will get a chance to join Kui people’s wedding ceremony.

All couples can join the ceremony free of charge. Interested people can contact the office of Surin Provincial Administration Organization at 0-4451-1975 and 0-4451-1599 .
