For visa exempt entry onward ticket is a requirement. So for the op with visa, not required.

So may I kidnap this thread for a quick question.... For VISA and extension-holders in general is it NOT of any need to show these cash money (20.000 baht)?? Just for the tourist-VISA excempt ones???

Grateful for a confirmation....

Not only exempt (10K Baht minimum) - also Tourist Visa holders (20K Baht minimum) - but reports of this recently only at Airports, and Malaysian crossings.

Some have been denied entry, detained, and forced-out for not having the cash, while trying to enter with Single and Multiple-entry Tourist Visas at airports.  Others, by land from Malaysia, had to return to Malaysia, go to an ATM to get the cash, before being allowed in.

In theory, anyone entering on any visa could be asked to "Show the Cash," but this is generally not done except for Tourist-type entries (Visa or Exempt).

By air, having the cash may not be enough to get you through airport immigration, if the IO decides you have been here too long too recently - the limits of which are undefined.  Rejection is less likely with a Tourist Visa + cash than Exempt + cash, however.
