uptoyoumyfriend Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Looking for somebody to give me practical advice on a small solar installation about 1 hp or 600w Mostly for pumping water.
canthai55 Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Calculate the total lift - from water surface to top of reservoir. Size pump accordingly. Calculate total motor draw. Allow 2 or 3 times current for startup. Calculate number of hours per day the motor will run, to size battery bank. Aim for no more than 30% rundown of capacity. Calculate the number and wattage of solar cells required. For strictly water pumping, a DC pump will be more then adequate in most cases. The higher you lift, the more it costs, all other things being equal. Google has Oodles of links. 1
