Taking the thai wife to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.Does she need a visa?

Last year took her to Laos and it only cost her 20 baht.

Iwas just reading a post on lonely planet and this person said their Thai friend had to pay 1200 baht for a visa at Poipet border. I didn't think thai nationals needed a visa?

ermm not sure if they call it a different name or not, but there IS a fee that even thai nationals (being an ASEAN member state) still has to pay. its either US$ 20 or 25..cant remember for sure. this was late september last year (2006) so I believe no change has taken place since.

so yes she will have to pay...its one of those pay at arrival. there is also a departure tax...of similar amount

no lonely planet guide, but personal experience (Im thai)

cheers

Last February at Phnomh Penh airport, it was 20 USD on the way in for a visa on arrival, and 25 USD on the way out for the departure tax. The rule applied for Thais nationals as well.

Do Thais need a passport to enter cambo or is their ID card enough?

Thank You

BTW

The question is for a 5 day stay

I took a Thai GF to angkor in 2002 and she needed her passport and paid the 20USD visa fee plus a small bribe at Poipet.

If she venture outside the border area it's necesary to have Passport and she require to have a Cambodia Visa .

Have a good trip, bring me back onw of those snakes in a whiskey bottle - it'll keep Mrs BIGJIMMY happy, they are supposed to help 'things'.
