Is it an end of an era for the Western Expat?

Most bar girls I have met during my time living at the same condoes and same areas, sharing the same internet cafe, and so on, had 2-4 customers a month, and some had boy friends, and then go out party once or twice a week to supply some extras, or make a safe deposit in case this scumbag also left then behind after promising them gold and green fields on the other side of the world.

There is so many different ways of being a bar girl, and so many ways to be a real dirtbag. Some deserves the name tags, others do not! But the ones in here screaming whore every time they talk about thai girls, most certenly is a son of thousen fathers themselves. I feel sorry for them, truly.

Probably just me but I have allot of respect for the 98% of females in Thailand who opt for a different solution to their economic situation. And as for having a BF and ONLY having customers once or twice a week, I can only imagine conversations over coffee " How was work last night honey ? ". I am not out to denigrate anyone but questioning their decision to go into an unhealthy profession offering little rewards isn't out of line. I sincerely feel pity for the girls that get involved with few exit strategies that don't include rewriting and hiding from their past. No way do the rewards equal the downside.

To the girls defend, I will say, many of them have no what so ever freedom in their life. They have been growing up in dysfunctional homes, society, enviroment, political system and belief, and many of them have been physical og mental abused and have no rights. Others just dont want to be <deleted> around in a poor paid job and abusing bosses at different workplaces for small amount of money. So many different reasons for becoming a socalled hooker in Thailand, and the biggest of them is because, women have no rights!

The ironicle about it, they often meet men who is running from women who got to much rights in their own country, and some of these men are abusing girls and promise them as I said gold and green fields and a future before they dump them, and these girs without any security or founds or whats so ever have to start all over again and again. It is a bad loop that got them in first time, and maybe whats keeps them going.

What so ever reasons and no reasons, I have no respect for men who sit on TV or in any bar talk shit about other peoples desteny knowing nothing about their lifes and situation and why they got there.

I like to respect people for who they are, and not what they have been. Many good girls out there, and as well as bad ones. Who is it to judge? You are me?

I am with you. You listed all the reasons prostitution is illegal and the law firmly enforced in so many countries. Thailand's complete lawlessness and culture is the source of the problems you stated above that most other countries don't suffer from. The government has in essence promoted the country as a sex tourism destination. Don't believe for a second the government is not capable of shutting this down.

Prostitution is a drug, men are the addicts and by allowing both to exist with impunity the government is the enabler.

Don't really understand what you mean women who have too many rights while at the same time stating Thai women have no rights? Thai women need more rights, but the right to become a prostitute should not be one of them, zero tolerance to them and those who solicit and you will see many problems disappear. Really weak is the notion these girls have no options. The vast majority of women find other options. I contend most of the bar girls are opting to take the lazy route just like the vast majority of LBs seemingly confused about their gender yet totally content to enter the sex trade.  Obviously a clueless attempt to make a living expending the least amount of energy with plenty of down time. I pity the sex workers and how they end up. I don't defend their decisions how they got there.

Nobody has ever married a bar-girl/hooker, many seem to have married the "cashier' from a bar.

Hooker, in thailand, is a relative term, I have met bar-girls that never go with customers and work for lady drinks and tips, I have also met girls that work in a bank and go with a different guy each night for money. I have met "nice" Thai girls that have sold their soul and married only for the money and lifestyle. Also met some bar-girls that have hooked up with some penniless ex-pats because of genuine feelings. I have met bar-girls (i wasn't a customer so they didn't need to lie) who have been sh*t on by ex thai husbands and boyfriends, cheated on them, abandoned them with children, debt etc. Have also met bar-girls who gave up the job in an insurance company to become a bar-girl.

I have 8 friends, and their partners, who I regularly socialise with in Pattaya, 6 married non bar-girls and 2 married bar-girls. The 2 ex bargirls are treated with the same respect etc as anyone else.

People need to stop seeing things through the prism of their own exsistance. Just because you married a bargirl from issan, it doesn't mean all expats have, it doesn't mean all Thai girls are hookers, or all bar girls are hookers, all bar girls/hookers are from issan, or all girls from issan are hookers.

A very, very small percentage of Thai females have sex with strangers as a means of support ie; JOB. IMHO a very large percentage of this same sub-group end up with serious emotional, psychological and substance issues and there within lies the problem. Any unbiased observer comparing Pattaya to another equal size resort city that strictly enforces laws against prostitution / solicitation can easily see the trickle down issues that are avoidable.

Yet it's 95% of the conversation on here. Bg this, bg that.

Being worse than what? Before 1. WW, Before 2. WW, during the 50,60,70íes in some asian countries? Since Franco Spain have become a paradise for some!

Most of us in here in TV, have the best time ever on this planet, and you refer it to becoming worse? I think is is a fear question, worse than what?

Yes Trump, and all that, and all the muslims and all that, and all the killing and that, but still is the big Q, worse than what?

I was thinking more the end of traditional family life for white men, if not the end of the white race.

I think you're wrong on this one.

Everyone lies, in Thailand they lie more (or is that lie more obviously?), nobody believes the lies (apart from some gullible white men).

Promise then renege, women did it to me all my life (including my mom).

Why shouldn't I lie to them? I ain't a white knight.

I lived with one for a year when I first came out here, but she insisted on doing it 5x a day, and when I could only manage 4x, she'd be off out for another go. Lovely woman, but I left her because the strain was just too much for my tired old body.

Some individuals lie more than others. Depends how greedy or desperate they are.

Probably because the other 6 worked the same job in the past.

One thing I have noticed, respectable Thai women can usually spot a hooker a mile off, and generally avoid socializing with them.

That's my main reason I avoid married white guys, they say 'my women never did it for money', my wife leans over and say, 'yes, they did'.

I don't want my wife mixing with ex-hookers, it always causes trouble.

Come on, it's easy to spot one. You don't need to be Thai or female.

By the meaning the woman got to many rights, makes them independent from men ;-)

It is not complicated, give woman rights equeal paid jobs, and security, and you will se prostution drops significant in Thailand, but som will never cope with any system, and or even find themselves more free working their body. It should be a personal choice, and not up to you or me to decide if someone think that is what they want to do.

My posts have been more about the attitude against the women who are or have been a prostitute, and calling them out as whores and even worse.

Give people respect, and you maybe get some respect back. Maybe

Yes, but I try to be polite to people's faces (in other words I lie a lot, Thai way).

And when a white guy tells me his wasn't a hooker, or his is different, I won't contradict him (even if I've shagged her).

But I'll make damned sure I never interact socially with him again.

There is always two sides of same story ;-) Who lied first and who will lie last, and who will win?

You know, some win some loose, and some loose every time

Of course. Otherwise they might start a fight.

That's some confession from an ex-SAS man.

A woman that wants sex 5 times a day? That sounds like a nymphomaniac to me.

You have previously posted about your Wife openly having sex with other men

(Another day, another day talking about sex with MaejoMTB)

Does she charge money, or does she do it for love ?

What she does in her own time is her business.

(I suspect she would be more likely to have sex with other women, I never specified she had sex with other men)

She knows any children will be DNA tested, so why would I care?

It's not up to me or you, society chooses norms and laws all need abide by. In Thailand prostitution is illegal, period. Legitimacy of many laws here in Thailand have broken down due to total lack of enforcement by law enforcement officials from top to bottom. Illegal enrichment has taken priority over whatever oath they took to uphold the law to protect the people. The result is what you see everywhere which is blatant selective and arbitrary enforcement, fines which amount to impunity and no minimum sentencing guidelines.

Lewd behaviour is illegal, prostitution is legal.

Title IX, Section 286 of the Penal Code states: “Any person, being over sixteen years of age, [sic] subsists on the earning of a prostitute, even if it is some part of her incomes [sic], shall be punished with imprisonment of seven to twenty years and fined of fourteen thousand to forty thousand Baht, or imprisonment for life.” While penalties are not specified, the same section of the act penalizes any person who (i) is found residing or habitually associating with a prostitute, (ii) receives boarding, money or other benefits arranged for by a prostitute or (iii) assists any prostitute in a quarrel with a customer.[5]
