Could be nice little earner in there for someone if he can arrange construction of a similar facility for Patts. Sometime in the next 15 or so years if the delays while the Bangkok Bus contract conditions are re-written and re-written, are anything to judge by. (Whatever happened over those 90 siezed busses?) How much would that be in submarines, armored anti riot vehicles and Thai Niyom Yangyeun activities? Probably less than a sub (excluding brown envelopes), and could pay for itself (excluding corruption)...

Sounds like everything is humming along just fine Thai style. What's the problem???

spidermike007
There are billions of baht to work with, to find a solution to these issues. Billions. All that is required, is for a few local politicians to agree to allow some of that money to be diverted from their massive bank accounts, hedge funds, overseas investments, condo purchases, yacht purchases, Mercedes purchases, and other illegal activities, to the service of the public sector. It is a very simple solution. Lock them up! Edited May 21, 2018 by spidermike007

Now the City of Singapore is without trash problems and is making a profit on the electrical power they produce and increasing their land mass, (profit there too by selling the land), with inert materials after incineration that is environmentally green. Maybe Pattaya could create a similar model to fit Pattaya's population size and needs. In the future, Pattaya could expand into phase II and began, contracting for profit, solid waste from other cities nearby to make more revenue and with the increased waste, produce more power to sell. It could be a win-win situation. But it will take some high power people to start the ball rolling. But the Singaporeans are smart that is why the country has been so successful ( accepting that it is small country) they don’t appear to have any law and order issues plus as I understand some of the toughest anti corruption legislation, which is also enforced.
ttrd
RE - Pattaya losing war on trash as residents block dump site The solution is simple, clear Chonburi for all living souls except the soi dogs and order a non atomic mid sized rocket from Kim Jong Sik delivered by itself adressed to the centre of Pattaya. The hole will be so big that it could serve the whole countrys need as a main dumping site where no sorting are required... After a decade or so when the hole is fillled up to its edge with garbage then rebuild Pattaya and do the same process all over again in Samui, then in Patong, Patpong, Soi NANA, Soi Cowboy and so on - a win/win situation - drastic but effective as big problems need big solutions.... Unfortunately last year Birmingham's bin men came up with a plan to get most of there pay and do nothing, meaning that Birmingham had to hire in contractors while the regulars were parked up at McDonalds, down side was recyclables were collected at the same time as the general wast and it all mixed together, but there again we have to separate our paper from the plastics and metals but when the bin men come round they just throw the paper in with the rest, unfortunately the goons who were running the council last year got re-elected, bit like Pattaya... newnative
Very incompetent City Hall. Just endless excuses on excuses, delays on delays. Pattaya is improving but all the improvements are being done by private industry. The city cannot even handle a basic service like trash management.
