Can I tap into the collective wisdom of the ex-pats on here that insure their automobiles?

Last October I arranged the purchase of a brand new Toyota Yaris G 1.2L Automatic 2018 model with some extras, Dash Cam, wheel guards, front and back spoilers etc.

Financing was successfully effected through my Thai partner and her Son.

30% down payment with 10,598tb monthly for 48 months. The vehicle is in their names (not mine) I'm perfectly OK with this.

Top of the line Auto Insurance was arranged through Toyota Finance.

As I don't speak read or understand Thai I'm totally clueless as to Insurance coverage.

Edit

This was not included in original post for some unknown reason....

My partner received a call from Toyota this week to arrange a home visit to ostensibly arrange the renewal of the insurance.

Given the insurance was taken out prior to delivery of vehicle last October 2017 I cant comprehend why they need to see us now in May 2018 for a renewal not due until September 2018. I paid annually.

I can only think of one reason why and that is they are trying to block an attempt to get a cheaper quote closer to renewal. Can someone help me understand what is going on here, please? My partner says this is normal.   I struggle with accepting this is normal. Hopefully, someone here can offer some advice.

I have read somewhere on here Auto insurance an be paid 10 payments per year instead of all up front....again clarification, please?

My partner says it is Toyota Finance Insurance that wants to visit ...I have no way of verifying this. I trust her completely. Are they just looking to protect their future commissions from the insurance? I'm happy with Toyota for the most part but have no experience of dealing with other Thai Insurers.

Hopefully, someone here can help me understand how to deal with this

For car insurance standard payment is one yearly payment.

Yes, they just want to renew before you enquire elsewhere. Why not have them over and have a few quotes of others ready to discuss with them?

This^ - unless your finance agreement ties you in to a specific insurance company.

I use this online broker for my insurance. You can get instant quotes from numerous insurance companies.

Edit to add - If you don't want to enter your email address to get the quotes (I don't) just enter a couple of random letters to get to the next page.

I don't think there is any finance agreement with a provision like that.

I did have one like that with Toyota financing before.

Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

First class insurance is a standard requirement, with one specific company is not possible.

I think there may have been some misunderstanding here.

I have seen an insurance company in the Toyota dealers but I'm sure they are not actually toyota but a company call vareya or something.  Their deal was expensive and not as good value as axa. Difference on quote we had was 5000 baht more and no breakdown support.

Virahya perhaps? I had them for my 1st year free and then switched to Axa via a broker.

I have heard of others having the same
