Fractured shoulder

Featured Replies

It's been 5 weeks now since fracturing my left Shoulder, still can't move my arm north more than a couple of inches, how much longer will it take to heal? doctor said I could need operation if it does not get better within maybe 6 weeks, what is involved with the op and possible cost.

Can't say what is involved knowing the details of the fracture. It might involve fixation of pieces of  fracture bone  with plates and /or screws.

Cost will depend very much on where it is done (Hospital) and also the amount of hardware they have to use as these are usually titanium and imported.

Have you had xrays done during these 5 weeks? Not a great idea to wait until 6 weeks have passed IMO.

If you are in or near Bangkok this is the best shoulder specialist in Thailand:

It is well worth consulting him even if you would not have surgery (if indicated) there.

Yes I had 2 X rays within the 5 weeks, all I could see was a hairline fracture so I'm hoping it will heal, still another week to go before I think about going back for a check, I'm in Phuket.
