... Two adults on a "flat" surface need about 10 km to vanish.  Both "stick up"...

I only need a few minutes to vanish if my wife has a project in mind.  Our yard is pretty flat and it's only 1 rai.

That's due to the weight of the light beams coming from the faraway ship.

Did you learn nothing at school?

The beams from Light Emitting Diodes are lighter than the old heavy beams.  They don't droop as far.  You study at Old School??

Isn't a football flat as well in your world?

Easily sorted with a hand pump and a suitable adaptor

If you take a small area and base your assumption of the world on that then yes it is flat but if you take the entire globe as a single entity of course it isnt. Calculus relies on small sections being able to be considered as flat for the calculations.

The earth is round. A sphere is an obvious shape as the pressure both internal and external is balanced with a sphere

This thread needs a replacement for the word 'global'.

Any suggestions?

quadrangulimundi referring to the four corners of the world.

Quadrimundial would be a bit snappier, and the anguli is implied since that is what the world has four of.

It would take a pretty strategic player to get the quad and dial lined up

The pie-eaters got a bit of stuffing in the Challenge Cup: 23-0 at Warrington. When I read that this morning I was tempted to put on my gloves and clap my little paws in triumphant joy, but instead I went out cycling.
