I'm now pregnant and the due will be in august '07...

my now bf will soon be my husband cos we're getting married before our baby's birth...hopefully, in march...

since we didnt plan to hav a baby so we really hav no idea about what to do get our child a british passport.

My soon to-be hubby will hav to go back working to save money right after our marriage n

the problem is .......

he's getting a new job which would involve a 4month training and we havent known for sure when that training would start... and it could be any time this year... during this training, he wont be able to leave UK til he's done...

what worries me now is that ... he wont be able to be here for its birth....

and we strongly agree to get our baby a british national...

the question is...

what do i have to do, if my future hubby cant be here when its born, to get my baby a british passport???...

pls giv suggestions cos if he cant really be here, i'll hav to play a single strong mummy's role alone in bkk...

to deal with all documents by my own with no help from the baby's daddy...

(just becos he might not b able to be here)

thanx for all advices...

ps. it's just so hard being pregnant on my own...

i just wish he was here...

Your boyfriend/husband has to firstly make sure that he is in a position to pass on his British citizenship. On the assumption that he can, your baby will always be British, so there is no need to get the passport immediately after his/her birth. Instead, you can wait until your boyfriend/husband is in Thailand.

In order to get a British passport for your baby, you will need to go to the British embassy in Bangkok and show your boyfriend's/husband's full birth certificate, your marriage certificate, your husband's passport, your ID card/passport, and your child's Thai birth certificate. It is advantageous to make sure that your boyfriend/husband is named on the Thai birth certificate. You might also decide to get your child a British-style birth certificate at the same time.

All the best,

Scouse.

If you want some support during this difficult time when you are feeling alone perhaps you should think about posting in the "Ladies Forum" on this site.(It's a forum for ladies to chat, not a forum for finding ladies!) There are some understanding ladies there who may be able to help you.

thank you very much everyone...

Good luck. There are more important things to worry about than the British passport. Unless you are moving immediately to the UK I don't think it's really an issue..there is no value in it until you want to move there. Getting the birth registered at the British Consulate is the first step anyway. Jai Yen..
