40 tourists, 3 boat crew safely back from Koh Racha

Phuket Marine Officers were called yesterday to bring 40 tourists back to the Phuket Deep Sea Port following another day of strong winds and high seas.

 

At 10am yesterday (July 11) officers from the Phuket Marine Office headed to Ao Tue at Koh Racha Yai to bring 40 tourist and five boat crew back to the Phuket Deep Sea Port as they were unable to get back to land due to the strong winds and three metre waves.

 

Officers reported, “They were scheduled to leave from Koh Racha Yai to the the Phuket Deep Sea Port on a tour boat. Before they departed there were three metres waves which presented their tour boat from departing the pier. The Marine Department had also issued a warning about the strong wind and waves.”

Edit:  OTOH, it's good to see that they sent out a mission capable vessel to transport them so the tourists could make their flights.  I guess that's a step in the right direction.  It could have been yet another tragedy.  But it wasn't.  Kudos to them for that.

Looks like someone learned from the tragedy last week. They did not leave the pier to attempt the 3 metre waves. They called for help, which is another small miracle, the next was there was one available.

 

This means we can have lots of photos as there are no bodies.

Who says miracles don't happen? They survived a boat trip in Thailand. Hope they don't take a minibus to get to their hotel.

They are only being a bit safety conscious at the moment until the boat massacre dies down then its back to business.
