Itchy Feet at night

Featured Replies

Hello. I have terrible itchy feet at night and often scratch feet.Soles and between toes. I presume either Athletes foot or psoriasis. Use the local powder in the yellow pot. Not much effect.

Any ideas?

Try mosquito repellant.

I have been suffering from itchy feet and legs recently and find that this helps. My feet now have a tendency to swell up and a look on google tells me the two are probably related and that a visit to a doctor quickish is highly recommended.

Swelling of the feet/legs can be an indication of cardiac problem or venous insufficiency so yes, should definitely see a doctor

Thanks for that Sheryl, can not make it till next week but will be there then. What sort of tests would they do at the hospital? Had a quick blood test at Lifecare in Pattaya the GFR is a touch low, wbc in urine gone from0-1 to 1-2 otherwise as normal. Blood pressure looked odd at 131/58 but they said not a problem.

The first step is a physical examination, listening to your heart and lungs. Depending on the findings, an echocardiogram of the heart and EKG might or might not be recommended.

If cardiac cause is ruled out then a venous doppler (type of ultrasound to assess blood flow in the veins of the leg).

If arterial cause is suspected then an ABI (calculation of ratio of blood pressure in ankles and the arm)
