Yeah, Trumps a real strategic "thinker", just like Michael Corleone, NOT...I think he's more like Freddo.

Rand Paul gets it, many other people get it, yet the anti-Trump crowd still refuse to get it. When will you see the light, Trump bashers?

Trump thanks Rand Paul for praising his position on Russia

Facing widespread condemnation for his fawning meeting with Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump gave a shout-out to Sen. Paul Rand, who praised him for trying “to prevent us from having World War 3.”

“Thank you @RandPaul, you really get it!” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning, referring to Paul’s interview on “CBS This Morning.”

“‘The President has gone through a year and a half of totally partisan investigations — what’s he supposed think?’” he added, quoting the Kentucky Republican.

“Yes, the vast majority of the foreign policy community, the bipartisan consensus said you shouldn’t meet with Putin,” Paul said.

“They also said he shouldn’t meet with (North Korean leader) Kim (Jong Un) and this is an extraordinary thing about President Trump that should be lauded and not belittled is that he is willing to meet with adversaries to try to prevent us from having World War 3.”

Paul stood by the president’s decision to sit down with the Russian leader, saying that Trump “did a good thing” by meeting with Putin and warned his colleagues that it was a “mistake” to “try to turn this into a partisan escapade.”

Excerpt concludes here, link contains entire article.

Did Trump tweet that Rand 'got it' before of after Trump tweeted about having mispoke in front of Putin and the world and then waffled on about some 'double-negative' that he just happened to forget to use?

As a matter of fact, he did.

Really? It seems more like keep your enemies close, and alienate your allies.

I agree that I have yet to meet a Russian that has a bad word to say about Putin. However, if you imprison/ assassinate your political opponents prior to the election and you don't afford them the same rights to publicity/free speech, that's without saying that anyone that stands against you is handpicked by you, you can hardly call it a democracy.

The Russians have a different mindset to Westerners and demand, above all else, a strong, nationalistic, unshakable leader. Putin fits that bill perfectly.

Respectfully that's a simplistic US view and you simply don't know the issues well enough. Anyway no point going round and round. Both sides have done evil and both side have done good. Both sides SPY and Trump should have said that.

U.S. presidents have a MASSIVE amount of individual power on foreign policy.

Apparently any federal judge can put a stop to anything he does, as with the travel ban and immigration matters. The SCOTUS apparently has the final word on presidential power.

Any treaty the POTUS negotiates has, far as I know, to be agreed by congress.

but they can always change their minds. Just because they allow him discretionary power, it does not mean he is unfettered.

In any case, if he actually did anything bad enough, congress can impeach him, but they haven't, so...……………….

Best case we can check him in the midterms / impeach / dump him in 2020.

Worst case he cons his way into two terms. Apocalyptic.

People need to wake.

America is being tested. The last big test was World War 2.

Dealing with a con man demagogue anti-democracy pro-dictatorship enemy compromised president is the current test.

No guarantee of passing that test.

Jingthing why are you foaming from your mouth ?

The Republicans in the U.S. truly have lost their minds over Trump....

See the thread on the new Reuters poll conducted after Trump's summit performance:

https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/1048990-majority-of-americans-think-trump-mishandling-russia-reutersipsos-poll/

Quote

Among Republicans, 71 percent approved of his handling of Russia compared to 14 percent of Democrats.

On whether they believe U.S. intelligence that Russia interfered in the presidential election:

Quote

only 32 percent of Republicans think that is true compared to 84 percent of Democrats.

And...

Quote

The poll also asked Americans whether they think authorities will find evidence of an illegal relationship between the Trump administration and Russia. A slim majority, 51 percent, said it was likely, while 77 percent of Democrats and 19 percent of Republicans did.

The Republican party I've known for the entirety of my life, even though I didn't agree with them for the most part, has somehow vanished and been replaced by an entirely different and bizarre creation.

So the NRA gun nuts (whom Russia has been trying to co-opt) and the squirrel eaters now think that Russia is our friend???

Smoke and mirrors. Look over there!  That is the trump doctrine. No one is saying it is illegal to business with Russia; except maybe trump claiming Germany was totally dependent on Russia because they buy energy from them. And, I don't know which majority of voters you speak; trump won no majority of voters.

Read my post again ! You quoted it incorrectly! Majority for Change voters, which are the people who voted for the  current POTUS! Nice try

"We woke up long before DJT came along,in fact the majority of voters for Change used DJT . Is it against the law for American citizens, to do business with Russians? Nothing new about NATO ,it was all discussed during the campaign".

Got to be one of the craziest posts I've ever seen on here and that my friend takes some doing.

"normal sized hands' - '140 character pearls of wisdom' 'stable genii' (which by the way is plural so unless you are talking about Trump's split personality, doesn't really work) and my personal favourite 'the lover of beautiful chocolate cake".

Take a seat sir. You have gone above and beyond what was expected of you.

These shit countries have backed your ass in wars, and have contributed to your wealth  and rise since 1. WW

we have bought your weapons, your products, and your franchising, and admired Usa for most of it. We have sent our soldiers, weapons, and made safe borders against russia. We have let your soldiers come and trained on our soil, to better strenghten our and your peace.

So it is time to think twice about where the deleted it went wrong for your country! It is not as black and white as you think!

I have not forgot what Usa have sacrified in Europe, but we have paid our price to, and also paid back deleted more than you guys have contributed with in total.

Your original reply above was in relation to a member commenting upon Trump's business transactions with Russians. Trump does have a history of criminal activity (among other examples, identified as having dealings with US mafia figures by Oz fed police, therefore declined casino licence in Oz). Trump has received considerable funds from Russians, some via offshore banks known for money laundering on the behalf of Russians. Personally it would come as no surprise whatsoever if Trump owned businesses are eventually charged for illegal financial activities.

Is it possible Trump supporters will finally run out of deflections / excuses for Trump's awfully damaging egocentric behaviour in the domestic and international arenas? Sadly doesn't look like it...

Should be impeached for treason ???

Gets crazier every day, indeed it does.

Trump is ruled a Traitor for speaking with another nation's leader?  What does that make the UN after seeing the silly and deluded Nikki Halley perform as a trained poodle, where no one joined her insane ideas?

Let's see. 2 men speak in a neutral land, they speak to the press and yet the press is horrified? It's as if poor Trump was put into a corner by a werewolf or was Putin being deluded by the boy who called wolf ?
I don't get it, but I do know that no matter what was said, didn't we all know beforehand that America's war lords want to take on Russia ?

I wouldn't worry, Russia, as there is a large glimmer of truth shining out as an example, miles from Earth, American and Russian astronauts work together beautifully.  It can be done, major media, war lobbyists and sold out politicians. Maybe you should try it, it's called COMMUNICATION!

I am not sure but I think the big issue over it is that Trump and Putin had there meeting alone without others being present. That I would say is not normal for someone who is the head of a country

And maybe you should stop trying to defend the indefensible.

The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, just threw his own intelligence services under a bus in favour of a known dictator, murderer, gangster and general genocidal maniac.

I'm sorry that you 'don't get it'. Fortunately all us sane people do.
