The week that was in Thailand news: Where, oh where are all the Thai serial killers?

from my understanding the police stations run as independent businesses and I wonder how much information is shared among them. there may be serial killers not being fully punished for all their crimes. otherwise it is nice to see Thailand is not the hub of something for a change.

As for Thai serial murderers, see:

http://murderpedia.org/male.P/p/phumphuang-somkhid.htm

There are four other entries under Thailand, two of which you cited and two others that seem to qualify more as "spree" killers than as serial killers.

Are there more that we don't know about? Probably, yes. But putting aside the issue of whether the Thai authorities hold back information on serious crime, I suspect that there are serial killers in many other countries that haven't been caught yet or are operating undetected, as well as some throughout history who were never caught.

Even in my home country, only the largest metropolitan areas have access to cutting edge forensic investigation technology. The police in smaller cities and towns can't solve a murder without a body, a witness, decent fingerprints, and an obvious suspect. They're doing good just to figure out who killed Joe Blow to steal his drugs and money on a street corner in broad daylight.

Of course, the Thai police seem to be cracking down pretty hard nowadays on people overstaying their visa....     perhaps serial killers will be the next priority ?

Wasn't there a recent case of a Thai man who travelled the country as a fairground worker killing little girls?

Think Rooster must of had his rose-tinted specs on when he wrote that there are no home-bred serial killers here.

The experts say that serial murder crosses racial boundaries so where are all the Thais?

Probably the Thai police can't catch them, or they're too rich or important to be punished.

There's definitely something iffy happening at Koh Tao (Island of Death).

The most notorious Thailand killer is apparently living a life of luxury in Dubai or thereabouts.

He was responsible for the slaughter of thousands, many completely innocent, after giving police free rain to eliminate drug runners on the northern borders.

And the city streets. Ride-by executions off the back of motorcycles in slow moving traffic occurred too often.

At least the Thais have been on record to say it was a 'mistaken policy' in mildly chastising that maniac in Manila.

And at least some gangs are starting to shoot back, at last count, three anti-drug Mayors in the Philippines copped it.

High time prohibition hurt its worst protagonists, lets hope they'll look at Canada and Portugal, and see the error of their failed and fatal ways.
