The law suit relating to the Phoenix boat sinking is expected to be filed at the end of this month while authorities are waiting for the boat to be salvaged, hopefully by the end of this week.

Phuket’s Provincial Police commander Maj Gen Teerapol Thipjaroen says, “the process of questioning witnesses and gathering evidence about the ‘Phoenix’ case is almost done.”

“The 57 year old boat captain Somjing Boontham, the boat’s chief engineer 57 year old Onjan Kanhayotee and the boat’s ‘owner’ 26 year old Woraluck Rueakchaiyakan, have already been charged with committing an act of negligence causing deaths and injury and causing grievous bodily and mental harm. They remain in custody at the Phuket Provincial Prison.”

I would have thought the salvage would depend on the easing of the current heavy weather.

What is the obsession with this?

We know what happened, it was caught in a storm and sank.

The so called storm(?) was not severe and the boat should have weathered it so they need to find out why he boat sank so easily e.g. was the initial design unstable, were there enough pumps even to question was it over loaded ?

Many answers needed

The obsession is the 10 Mio involved for a 2 Mio job.

They didn't wait for fair weather before going to sea.

It seems that they think the weather is not a factor  ?

I like to know how can a 26 year old own a boat like this

The word "scapegoat" comes to mind.

To a certain extend, yes, but don't forget she was the registered owner of the company that owned the boat. She committed fraud in order to be that owner.

Yes, many answers needed however I remain unconvinced their fervour over this is anything other than a gimmick to squeeze some cash out of someone, as usual.

Is there the required expertise, or even the interest in a scientific appraisal of the boat to determine the reasons behind it's sinking?
