Hi, hope all are well.

A friend has asked me if he would benefit from coming to Thailand for some dental work which is going to cost him £50,000 in the UK. He has been correctly told that dental work in Bangkok at some of the better hospitals would be far cheaper and the standard as good as the UK, if not better.

The obvious recommendation is Bumrungrad - but i am sure there are others.

Are there any in bangkok with a stirling reputation for dental work?

Many thanks

I dont know - actualy he is more of a customer than a friend so didnt want to ask. You would be suprised how expensive it is in England though. Its a nightmare for dental work.

I'm an englander myself.. i know what you mean.

4 crowns set me back over a grand a few years back..

would be a third of the price here (CM)

The Dental Hospital, Bangkok 88/88 Sukhumvit soi 49 are very professional, and competitively priced, I believe. Call them: 0-2260 5000-15

If your friend/customer is have extensive work done and it seems by the price that he is, he should consider staying other than in Bangkok to have his dental work done as there will be hotel, transportation and eating costs to consider as well.

Chiang Mai, one hour north by very inexpensive airfare, offers a enviroment for of one at leisure than BKK does in my opinion and the Grace Clinic here is world class and relatively inexpensive. Many of the clinics patients fly from overseas for their dental work. Combination vacation and dental work, if such a thing is possible.

Just finished two root canals and two crowns on adjoining teeth, cost 33,000 Baht. Yes there are cheaper clinics in Chiang Mai that should be investigated, but I have yet to have heard of one that is so modern or professional.

As it happens, I am coming to BKK in a few days. Today I got a $1200 USD bill from my dentist and the news that I need three crowns and an implant.

Whoaoh, an IMplant?? Yow!

So who do you all recommend for specialty dental work?

My dentist, as anticipated said no one outside of the US can do an implant, gven the tiny margin of error in setting it just ever so prrecisely in a zillion dimensions.

OK, so she convinced me that I need an expert in this procedure.

Who are the best in BKK? Pattaya? Other superb people in other places?

Many thanks in advance.

I'm soon going to go to the much recommended Grace Dental Clinic for a few implants. Cost quoted by email are about 80,000 baht each. That's cheaper, but not by much, than say in Paris, France of which I have certain knowledge. I'd be very interested to how it compares with the current cost of this at a good dentist in England.

Another well recommended clinic in Chiang Mai is the Chiang Mai Dental Hospital, a group of 15 or 20 practicing dentists. Example: I got quotes in 3 countries, all for 3300 in the local currency. Complete upper (or lower) denture: 3,300 baht here, four times that much in Mexico, 38 times that much in Texas, and probably 70 times that much in England. Another example: they only do xrays when necessary, and the charge is 100 baht (quid and 40-some pence).
