Looking for second hand golf equipment. I am a novice golfer and need a golf club bag. I Have a set of clubs donated from a good Mate but no bag. Does anyone have any suggestions to find something in the Pattaya / Rayong Area?

Try the very large secondhand shop with the giant guitar outside it, South bound carriageway going toward Ban Ampur on the left hand side before the Hue Yai traffic lights.they have mountains of second hand bags clubs and such.

I've seen assorted golfing equipment in auction houses here. Not sure about the quality, but prices are generally quite low.

I also quite often hear of expats who are leaving or who are too old to play any more and who want to sell their equipment. For that I would be inclined to ask in some of the many bars that organise golf trips.

Cheers Rimmer, I'll give that a try.

Cheers KittenKong, That sounds like a fun way to look, around the bars.?

You can also go to a few of the bars that have clubs who play almost daily.

Many around Soi Lengkee, Soi Buakhao and LK.

Just go in and ask around or talk to the manager they may have some info.

Bahtsold.com i sell my golf stuff on there. Maybe a wanted advert on thaivisa, only if free of course. You could probably get a cheap bag on lazada or one of the Pattaya golf shops, 2 or 3 up 3rd road, check the two golf ranges out. 2nd hand shop on Threpasit.

Golf isn't cheap to play regularly at proper courses

Rimmer, could you be more specific as to the location of the secondhand shop and how to get there from say Sukumvit mid Pattaya , sounds interesting?

Thanks,

If you hit the proper days, it is not that expensive.  Not compared to my home anyway.  But yes, some of the nicer courses can be.  Siam quoted me around 5,000 b.  Some days they have promotions.  Pattaya CC is 1350 b now Tues-Thurs incl. green fee, cart and caddie. Not too far away and not a terrible course at all, but the greens are difficult.

The equipment here is very expensive.  When I go home I bring back a bunch of balls, gloves, etc. stock up for the year.

So, buying some used stuff here if you need it is not a bad idea.

Anyone learning I would highly reconmend playing the 9 hole golf coures in Bangsare or Sattahip, the one in Bangsare requires you use a caddy, but the two in Sattahip you don't, a round of golf (9 holes) can be played for around 200baht.

The clubs I've seen in there Rimmer are like scrap iron, somewhere like bahtsold would be a better choice I think.

Thanks Rimmer.  I didn't know what you meant when you initially referred to carriageway, but I now understand that you meant Sukumvit.

Yes you're correct, but the bags are really old and the leather is as tough as old boots. Bags don't last too long in the heat we get over here.

Compared to UK and Oz its way more expensive and i think US & Canada too. UK. £1000 a year unlimited golf. Pattaya courses 2-3000 a round lets say 2500 baht x 3 a week ( circ £8000 a year).
If you play occasionally its ball park same as UK

Unless you have to have a cart and are including transport you can play many courses at the moment for less than 1500 for green fee, caddie fee and tip. Agreed it is not as cheap as it once used to be and yes now more expensive than a basic local course  in the UK - but not if you deduct the caddie costs which as you know is a whole other discussion.

@bkk6060PCC other than  being close to Pattaya is not (IMO) very good value.

If the OP is still looking for his bag another option is local facebook groups in Thai - if you can read or have a Thai who will look for you. I bought my last bag from someone who was selling assorted bags online significantly cheaper than I had seen anywhere else - and coincidentally only lived about  5 minutes bike ride away.

Gee really?  I have played several courses 1350 b for anytime tee off on those 3 days seemed like a decent value including the cart.

Great then, maybe you can educate me then on what courses that are decent you can play for less then 1500 b GF, caddie and tip?

From what I have seen, I guess there are some better prices out there but I do not want to play at 3pm or drive in traffic for over an hour to save a few baht.

So, your input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Including the cart the price is good and, as I mentioned, it is closer than most - I just don't rate PCC for the price as I pretty much always walk.

Pattavia - 600+350 plus tip

Crystal Bay 750+330 plus tip

Mt Shadow 750+350 plus tip

Greenwood 700+350 plus tip plus other offers

Treasure Hill 600+350 plus tip - 1250 inc cart

Khao Kheaw 800+350 plus tip

Eastern Star 600+350 plus tip

Kings Naga and Plutuluang even less but not everybody's cup of tea.......

These are PCC/golf bar prices but most, if not all, available to anybody who books.

Tips are usually 300+ and if people play with golf bars then usually another 250 transport and 250 sweep. Plus most guys i know use carts which are circ another 500. There are good deals this time of year but if you add it up over the whole year and not just at the low point the total cost is lots higher than farangland. I found a 10 year old thread the other day when someone was highlighting the greater cost back then incl the caddy costs
