BP medication combined with Urimax 0.4 causing low BP?

Featured Replies

I have been taking BP medication (Losartan 50mg and Metoprolol 50mg) for several years now, but recently started on Urimax 0.4 mg to help with enlarged prostate. However I now find that my BP is very low at 108/57. I have only been taking the Urimax for 2 days, so should I be concerned or will my body gradually adapt to the Urimax and my BP rise again?

Tamsulosin (Urimax) has a BP lowering effect if its own so you very likely do need some adjustment to  your BP meds. Discuss with your doctor.

BTW unless you have some cardiac or neurogenic problems, beta blockers like metoprolol are no longer usually recommended for control of hypertension. If the beta blocker was added because the losartan alone was insufficient, this might no longer be necessary now that your are on an alpha blocker (Urimax).

But do nto stop the metoprolol on your own, needs to be done under medical supervision especially if you have a history of any heart problems.
