On the road or in queues anywhere it is pronounced "Me First-ness"    Don't tell anyone, because they like Thailand to be the originators and "hub" of everything, but I think the Chinese do it so much more and better.  Thais are just poor copiers of China in this and, well pretty much, everything!!

I'm surprised they got up for you. In my experience, generally, they don't show foreigners the same social graces they do with each other.
