A 31-year-old German woman, who married a Thai man 12 years ago, has put her passion for Muay Thai to good use by offering free children's lessons at her husband's boxing gym in Nakhon Ratchasima's Muang Yang district.

Mali Watcharaya and her husband Thanit Watcharaya, 33, hoped to pass on their love for the martial art to the next generation so they could spend their free time practising Muay Thai.

Twenty children have joined the free lessons provided by the expat.

"I want children in the community to love exercising, stay away from drugs and be trained in self-defence," she said.

The centre (facebook.com/worwatthana/) also supported the children who wanted to become Muay Thai athletes to join various boxing events.

Didnt know it was allowed, but great initiative. Free exercise plus the opportunity to maybe learn some extra English. Wish the government would allow more of this without fear of deportation as i can imagine tons of non-working foreigners wont mind teaching local kids some skills for free (be it english, sports, or whatever).

Married 12 years ago to a Thai husband.

Maybe she made it to the Thai passport?

I've been doing free boxing classes for ages. If I'd know it would have gotten me a thread on TV (thai visa not trans sexual) I would have mentioned it.

Could doing this land me in trouble???
