Why long-term expats in Thailand say insurance is worth every baht
Interesting set of answers. The ‘article’ is a sponsored advertisement from Cigna. An advertisement is not going to cover the negatives compared to the positives. Bottom lines: 1. Know your pre-existing conditions and expect an interpretation that the condition will bar you from a payout, no matter how insignificant. 2. You already know your age. If over 70, there is very little hope for you to obtain a policy worth the premium or risk of refused payouts. 3. If you have the money for a very expensive policy, you may as well self insure, by putting aside a chunk of income for unforeseen illness treatment. 4. The bigger the hospital bill the harder an insurer/underwriter will try to find a way not to pay. 5. Insurers get you to list major pre-existing conditions, because they tag your conditions to a long list of other risks you do not know about and then you have claims refused. 6. Failure to disclose a risk will be used against you, even if you did not realise that minimal or trivial risk could be tagged to other problems. 7. People are warned about under insuring, but there is no way to fully insure for all eventualities, even if you could afford it. 8. And once you declare anything, it is on your record for life and will be used to deny your claim. 9. If you still wish to insure, check websites for your intended insurer which show listed difficulties people have when claiming, along with long approval delays. There are websites that independently rate and list claims problems along with the poor behaviour of some companies. Note: some companies provide false testimonials on their websites, to balance or counter the real complaints. Other insurers are known scammers with small offices and registered in very dodgy locations. Do your research and try not to get caught - including by the bigger companies where there are well documented scandals associated with illegal or questionable claim denials. -

Every time a lot of talking and promises and nothing will chance... The Government doesn't want educated people as they are a threat for their power... So although they promote critical thinking, we can see what happen if critical comments are being used ... Jailtime without bails.. and outdated materials and lessons, overloaded classes and a lot of non educational activities, just to keep the power.. and to be sure kids don't start to learn there is the non fail policy.. Lazy kids are being made in schools as no study or efforts to do anything will be rewarded -

My marriage is also registered in Thailand the problem is I don’t have a Thai bank account and I’m not sure if I can open 1 given the clampdown they are having at the moment
