Is Naithon beach a good choice?

You're asking about monthly rates which suggests a long stay

Naithon is in the north of the Island near the airport. If you are looking for an isolated area where you can have long walks on a, largely empty, scenic beach and quiet evenings in your accommodation, this the place to be.

Most beachside hotels there are up-market, self contained resorts, probably more expensive than you want.  I don't know if there are many cheap hotels other than those near the airport.

If you want to be somewhere closer to the tourist or expat scene you should head further south.

Best you do your own research as you are the only one cognizant with your own unique requirements.

Better than Kamala which I consider the dirtiest beach in Phuket. Patong isn't much better. The only thing wrong with Naithon is that there ain't much there after dark. Nice beach though

Whats wrong with Kamala beach?

Most people I know believe Kamala beach is the best overall major beach on the west coast.

Kamala is a big long beach, swimmable all year, with  plenty of high/low end eateries/bars right on the beach,  and the only beach boardwalk on phuket.

No sewer treatment and an incredible amount of construction runoff. Every klong  (3) emptying onto the beach smells of sewer water. The water is brown all during high season. The beach is polluted.  The enormous Montazure construction project at the North end of the beach dumps tons of construction runoff in the water. Kamala Beach is an ongoing environmental disaster.

Actually you have shown that you dont seem to know phuket very well.

EVERY major west coast beach has untreated klong water flowing directly  into the ocean. EVERY single one.

Naithon beach, Surin beach, Patong Beach, Bang Tao beach, Karon beach, Kata and kata noi beach, Naiharn beach, all have nasty blackwater problems which are arguably varying degrees worse than Kamala beach.

Dont confuse brown sand with brown water. The beach water at kamala is crystal clear in high season. You can enjoy watching the fishies playing around your toes.

Kamala is also one of the few places relatively safe to swim/surf during low season, due to the very gradual slope of the sandy bottom.

I was at Kamala beach several times this low season and didn't notice any extra runoff/smells from the 5star properties being built there.

I heard on TV that the klong on the north end was clogged for a few days, but they fixed that.

Living here for 9 years and walking Kamala Beach every day, yeah I don't know what I'm talking about. Every klong is dumping sewage and construction runoff. Kamala Beach is Phuket's dirtiest beach. That's a fact, Jack.

Well then, you need to get

ouf of kamala and see the other beaches. Kamala is no worse, and probably allot better than all the other major beaches.

I hate to break this to you, but they all have the dirty klongs.

The construction on kamala will be complete soon, so that shouldn't bother you going forward.

Thats the truth Ruth!
