"Sinner" poisons nine soi dogs who only "barked at night"

A person who left out chicken bones laced with poison to kill a pack of soi dogs has been labeled cruel and a sinner.

The dogs were killed at a housing estate in Klong 5 of Klong Luang district of Pathum Thani north of Bangkok.

Locals managed to save the lives of three but nine died an agonizing death.

Khun Hongliam, 63, said he was taking a relative out at 6am on Tuesday when he saw several dogs foaming at the mouth in terrible distress. And he saw the chicken bones that had been left out for them to eat.

He told the housing authority about it then with the help of a neighbor buried the dead. Khun said his neighbor was in tears.

"Whoever did this was cruel beyond belief," he said.

"These dogs didn't bite anyone or cause annoyance. They slept under cars in the day and only came out at night," he told Manager adding:

"They only barked at night when people came into the estate".

In their headline Manager labeled the person responsible for poisoning the dogs a "sinner".

sleep deprivation is a form of torture..the pack of feral dogs should have been rounded up and taken away by the local authority..not left to terrorise the local community !

How does he know this, was he out at night times or early mornings? Good work by the "sinner". Hope this is awake up call for the authorities.

Maybe the Sinner should be awarded a medal for services to the community?

Or perhaps he's part of Prayuth's new Building Thailand Together; national development.

Soi dogs are a menace, these sorts of cases will continue as long as the mai pen rai culture persists around packs of dogs merely being an accepted part of the urban landscape

How convenient. Thai's are masters of sleep, I've always maintained that they could sleep comfortably under water and not be affected. Nothing pisses me off more than ownerless dogs barking at night, but I am not a sinner!

I am horrified by previous comments. Soi dogs are part of this environment and of thai culture. They bark and live their lives exactly as men scream and live theirs. You can't kill animals just because you don't like them. Learn how to deal with them. I have never had problems with soi dogs in 10 years of bangkok. I found they are useful cause they keep reptiles away from my house and my kids. And most of all they are part of this country that is our host, you well educated people should not forget that

Same goes for Tigers, but they caused such a nuisance to local villagers that they have virtually wiped them out.

Are Thais/Buddah selective about which species they can exterminate?

So you wouldn't mind if all the stray soi dogs were rounded up and left on your doorstep then?

I found they are useful cause they keep reptiles away from my house and my kids.

What stray animals keep Thai apologists away?

Soi dogs are part of the culture? Reptiles are not?

We do not have any soi dogs in our village. The main reason is that most domestic dogs are free to roam and as it's dogs natural instinct to form packs and defend their territory, there are no unwelcome strangers.

I was bothered about this at first, but now I see that no one else is and that all the children are also free to roam and mingle with the dogs, I've decided that my doubts and fears are unfounded.

As for the noise issue? No problem. If they do kick off at night, which only occasionally disturbs me, I always have very effective ear plugs on my night stand.

Madam Moon, being Thai, just carries on sleeping. As they do!

reptiles as well are part of Thailand. I don't kill reptiles cause they are a threat. I respect them and try not to kill them unless I found one close to my son or daughter.

I have read triumphalist comments because a coward has poisoned and killed a dozen of soi dogs.

To me the ones who celebrate such ignoble action are garbage

that's all hello to everybody i have a job

In my opinion, they are the same as "soi dogs" and should be treated accordingly.

Please let your kids out of your house once in a while, and when, not if, they get attacked by these dogs, post again.

Was a farang responsible for the dogs deaths?  There's been no whinging or whining on this thread, just a lot of reasonable support for people who have to put up with the unreasonable habits of stray dogs.

did i say a farang did it..NO..but it is sick farangs who are cheering the poisoning of animals. there are other ways to control a dog problem..poisoning is not one of them.

As for someone who, as a general rule has way more time for our four legged friends than my fellow humans I think that Mr Sinner should have done the world a favor and poisoned himself rather than the poor mutts. Or alternatively bought some ear plugs. I really hope they throw the book at this monster.

I really hope they throw the book at this monster.

And so do I. ?

I'm vegetarian, I don't condone or support poisoning animals...however dogs barking at night in a pack would drive me nuts.

So you rather go nuts than poisoning wild dogs?

Might want to reread my post and think about what I was saying.

I don't support the poisoning of animals, but I can see what drove this person to act this way.

They shouldn't have, but...

"did i say a farang did it.."

Did I say that you did say that?  I asked a question after you brought "farangs" into it.

Eliminating a pack of stray soi dogs is not necessarily "sick", it could be considered a very good idea. Having been bitten by a stray dog and having to have a course of rabies shots, I think eliminating them is a great idea.

"...there are other ways to control a dog problem..poisoning is not one of them".

On the contrary, according to the OP it seems that poisoning actually is one way, and a very effective way, come to that.

It's a horrible thing to do- Would he like to die like that?

Yes, soi dogs are a big nuisance.  It's one of those things that goes with the territory.

Thais "pretending" to care, makes me laugh, they treat these dogs like dirt, throw  them scraps and let them die in agony themselves.

Thai society, a  sick sick joke.
