Any recommendation of a General practitioner

Featured Replies

Can someone please recommend a GP around Hua Hin or Cha Am?

Just for the occasional minor health issues or check up, as a first contact.

Thank you.

The GP system many of us are used to does nto really operate in Thailand; medical care here is highly specialized and those doctors who have no specialization are often rather mediocre and may have limited English. It does nto require a referral to see a specialist, you can consult one directly and specialist handle many of the things that a good GP i nthe West would.

that said, there are obviously some things so minor that seeing a specialist makes no sense, and sometimes one cannot tell what type of specialist would be appropriate.

In Hua Hin your best options in that situation are:

1. Red Cross clinic - only for minor problems but fine for that and very affordable.   Google maps shows it under "Red Cross Health Station".

2. Hua Hin hospital OPD dept - cheap but crowded, long waits

3. More expensive:  Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin. There is only one GP doctor there, all the others in the internal medicine dept have specializations: Dr. WANIDA LIKKASITTIPHAN.

For anything serious or very complex I strongly advise coming to Bangkok. There is excellent medical care to be had on the Thonburi side of the river i.e. no need to go into the heart of Bangkok. E.g: Siriraj Hospital (public and private wings), Thonburi Hospital etc.

Thank you very much Sheryl for your most helpful advise, as usual. Precisely what I was looking for.
