Khon Kaen unveils Smart Bus Terminal Plus

KHON KAEN, 7 September 2018 (NNT) - Khon Kaen province has launched a Smart Bus Terminal Plus campaign to improve safety measures and conveniences for passengers. 

Department of Land Transport Director-General Sanit Phromwong and Provincial Governor of Khon Kaen Somsak Changtragul jointly presided over the opening ceremony of the Smart Bus Terminal Plus campaign at the Third Bus Terminal in Khon Kaen city. 

The campaign aims to improve service quality, convenience, speed, and safety of public transportation in the province to better serve passengers and encourage more people to travel using public transportation, which will in turns help boost local economies and the tourism sector. 

Each bus terminal will serve as passengers hub ensuring service carriers will comply with the regulations, while a special tracking system has been developed to monitor buses and display the information at the bus terminals. 

Regulators will have access to the on-time performance of buses and service information. The campaign requires constant check-ups of drivers and vehicles' conditions, including their blood alcohol level and reflect system. 

The authorities anticipate the service enhancement campaign will make the general public become more confident in the public transport system.
