I need to renew car insurance which expires on 22/09
Current insurance is with Alliance. Last years premium was 14,000 but this year they are asking for 22,400!  There have been no claims. They say that the increase is because of change from red number plates to white plates.
As the car is financed by Krungsri Auto (who are also the people  contacting me with the insurance quote)can I change to a different insurance company or do I have to go with the one they have chosen?  I can’t seem to get a straight answer from them
Thanks

I think the finance company may require a first class or fully comprehensive insurance policy  but you should be able to choose which company provides the policy...why not ask the forum sponsor AA insurance for a quote.

You can change,  its your choice so long as it is 1st class insurance.  You can also get a reduction but restrictng insurance to two drivers if you so wish.  Its not a lot but we have always done that and you will need to request it

we changed insurance companies on our last new car and will on the new one again if they charge too much, first year with this car was free(same with the last one) but we will shop around if they are not acceptable, nothing stopping you as long as you go first class insurance

Correct.

You can change, but the finance company will want to see a comprehensive cover.

This is what I would expect but is it 100% true for all companies?

The reason I query is I know where someone took over a still financed car and the insurance on it was only second class - but the car was more than 4 years old? Thanachart for both finance and insurance.

I would like to jump on this as well

I'm in a similar situation - 1st yr free (but no policy info through Toyota )

I'm up for renewal myself but never got the reminder or any calls

I knew that i was due & started making enquiries to Toyota only to find out I was a mth over due (so no valid policy I guess )

Only to be told it will be 2000 bht cheaper @ 23000 bht - Sienta

I will also be questioning why no notice & about the no claim
