Dangerous U-turn on Route 24! Residents go to the media to get the lights repaired

Residents in a village near a U-turn on Route 24 between Si Khiw and Ubon went on Facebook and attracted media attention after the authorities have ignored their pleas for nearly a year.

The lights are out at the U-Turn and there have been frequent accidents.

Two calls have been made to the authorities but this has been met with tumbleweed.

The U-turn is at Ban Sem  in Prasat district where Sanook reporters found the lights were out in the Wednesday gloom.

There is a flashing yellow light to warn people but the locals fear for the safety of the old and young in particular, reported Sanook.

the book of face is a powerful tool here.

So powerful that a like at the wrong site brings you to prison

There are many dangerous U turns all over the country...in my opinion most are dangerous...they are inherently dangerous but could be made much less so with better road layout, lighting, signs, uncluttered central reservations (no trees in ditches) and road markings that aren't faded away.

Get on Facebook, give it a whirl, seems to be the only way to get any action here. Govt ministries/RPT only react when they have been shamed on FB!

Sorry I dont have a Facebook account...and as mentioned just a "wrong like" there can bring big trouble.

It's been met with what?

Tumbleweed, its associated with images of deserted towns in the USA..in other words the residents requests have met with the same response one would get in a place with no humans inhabiting it = zero response.
