Popular Post johng
Except these "virtually useless" cycle routes are not in Pattaya City, they are about 15km south of Pattaya technically in Sattahip... 9 1 1

That is to separate the good families from thieving ladyboys, crooks, pick pockets, crooked cops and low hanging wires in the world class family resort city! Even at Buddha Mountain you need to be careful of jealous boyfriends wielding guns. 2 1
Rimmer
They have been open for a couple of years already and are quite popular during weekends with cyclists from Bangkok, not sure that any tourists are or will be using them though as they are over 25km out of town around the Wat Yan, Silver Lakes area.

Popular Post Esso49
Yep and as in Bangkok and even outside of Non Khai these are so much a "family friendly resort ideals" that families on motorcycles and in Tuk Tuks are using them forcing the cyclists, for whom they were intended off, into the road. Yes very family friendly. 1

Gecko123
Some physical therapy stations on the road embankment for those recovering from bar girls and ladyboys attacks would be very beneficial as well.

Popular Post anfh
Most have been open for over a year, I regularly use them, traffic around the area they cover, Buddha Mountain, wat Yang, Pheonix etc are pretty low on traffic anyway, Never had any problems.
thecyclist
Ludicrous :No need for bike lanes in that low traffic :One to get out of Pattaya would be great. Once in the countryside you don't really need one. FFurthermore, do bike lanes ever work in Thailand. They got some in Bangkok to serve as car parking areas, motorcycle lanes and selling space for vendors. The only one that works is the one around Suvarnaphum Airport, because it is completely closed to all motorized traffic.
scubascuba3
I cycle around these routes a lot including silverlake, wat Yan. Many groups around, cycling will only get more popular and more tourists will come for it. They've done a good job with these routes 1
n210mp
This is not a moan nor criticism of a great idea but it could only happen here! At the first traffic lights after Ban Amphur on Sukhumvit going towards Sattahip turn left and you are on the first part of this cycle/motorcycle lane lane going up towards the temple and what do we find, that the cycle lane is full of shizer, grids and uneven water holding surfaces together with lots of sand perfect for a thinly tyred road bike ! Popular Post xerostar
Misleading headline as usual. Its not a cycleway at all, it's just a cycle lane next to the roadway. In Thailand (as as anywhere else) cycling near cars and motorcycles is inviting serious injury or death. A proper two way dedicated cycleway devoid of other vehicles or pedestrians is the only acceptable way to provide recreational paths for bike riders. Preferrably through scenic parklands !! 5

Benmart
I drive this route often. It is very nice and used a lot on weekends. I wonder how many bar-stool/key board critics have ever ventured south of Pattaya Tai?
AlexCanada
One of the biggest things I miss about living in Central Pattaya is there is no safe place to bike. Definitely would save me a gym membership if safe cycling lanes were implemented in Pattaya city. A cycling path along Beach Road would be great. Would be a nice ride too.
