Air Con Adventure

2 Samsung Split units quit after 3 years of runtime the cooling job.

Servicemen called by Condo management did refill both units. One unit quit the job 3 days after, the other one was still cooling.

This time I called the Samsung Hotline, after my story told, the voice on the other end said something like "change condenser, 8000 Baht" .. made a appointment the other day. Samsung technician made a pressure test, changed valve, refilled both units . When they leave, both units are cooling ... and ... tata ... one unit quit after 3 days, the other is still cooling.

Visit at PK Air on Thepprasit Road (after long search in TV Forum) .. Samsung AR series are known to have this problem ... leak after corossion of the aluminium condenser, not good in salty air ... bought a Daikin, installed in 3 hours (4th floor, dude is sitting on the second unit without any safety gear) ... should working now for 20 years due copper condenser ?

When the second Samsung is empty I will change it with a Daikin too.

When we moved into our previous condo, a 2 bedroom, our first monthly electric bill was 4000 baht. We had lived in at least 8 other condos and we never had a bill over 2500 baht so we knew something was wrong.  We had the big aircon unit in the living room checked and they adjusted something.  Our next bill was around 2000 baht.  The 3 aircons were from a brand I now don't like after using them--the LR aircon was really too large for the room and we couldn't seem to adjust the fan to a low enough setting--the room was always too cold unless we set the temperature at around 27 or 28.

Now we are in a larger 3 bedroom condo.  Our routine hasn't changed, we mostly use the aircon at night when we sleep, occasionally during the day if it's really hot.  We bought a new Daikin aircon for the master bedroom and our monthly electric bills have been around 900 baht a month.  We haven't been able to figure out why our bills have been so low--as we now also have a clothes dryer we never had before--but perhaps the Daikin is helping.

Or a neighbor has moved out? The shortcomings of Thai electricians applies to condo wiring too.

You may have been unlucky...

I installed 2 Samsung Inverter aircons of this AR-series in my previous condo nearly 7 years ago, and they are still working fine. Very quiet, low consumption, and nice dry cool air

For these reasons, I also buy another Samsung Inverter AR-series just 4 months ago for my new condo.

BTW I find a bit strange that a supposed corrosion problem could bring to failure of 2 aircons nearly at the same time after 3 years...

Also an aircon that stops working 3 days after refill, it's not a "leak" but a huge hole or a disconnected pipe !

At last, I don't know how big are your aircons, but 8'000 baht for a new condenser seems a crazy price to me. (My whole aircon system costed me 12'000 baht!)

For me too ???? It was from the Samsung Hotline from the sticker on the AC.
