Not Thai and can't run a tour company in Thailand! - Big Joke in last hurrah

Just days before he becomes the chief of immigration Thailand's star crime buster has thrown the book at two foreigners pretending to be Thais.

Maj-Gen Surachate Kahpan - still the deputy commissioner of the Tourist Police until Monday - was at a press conference that explained why Kritphat Charoenrithichaikun was not Thai and shouldn't be running a tour agency.

Kritphat - whose real name or nationality was not mentioned in the INN story - assumed the identity of a boy who had in fact died years ago when he was five.

The father of the boy had not reported the death and when shown the picture of Kritphat denied ever having met him.

According to the Maj-Gen's team Kritphat had renewed his ID six times the latest being in June 2013.

He was aided and abetted in this by his wife Kuanthuang Sae-Yang who appears is also of foreign stock.

They were running the Tong Lin (Thailand) tour company in Lat Krabang.

Surachate - known in the media as Big Joke - has been promoted to the head of immigration, another arm of the police, and takes up his post on Monday after the latest reshuffle in the civil service.

Just wonder how many more badges he gets when he

becomes Chief of Immigration ?, I think he will need a bigger

chest.

Wherever he puts them - in a chest or a trunk, it's all the same - they're pretty, but pointless.

So it looks like he's hit the big times, out of the spotlight and into the world of immigration where money changes hands all day long.not knocking him and if he hurries up he can have my brown envelope as my visa is due for renewal soon.

Big mess in Jomtien  immigration too.

I had to do a 90 day report y'day.

I started my timer when I got out of the car and went into the immigration office.

By the time I got back to the street to wait for my driver/wife,

Over four (4) minutes had passed!

It was reported that he will get another star on his epaulets.

Wonder how he's going to handle sitting at a desk as head bureaucrat of Thai Immigration.  Not much limelight there.

You mean, arrest all the farangs waiting in long queues outside the CM immigration office???

I wouldn't be surprised!

While it is correct to lock up these crooks it might be noteworthy, that they should be booked for the ID faking.

Once Thailand understands that quality tourism (which they completely screwed up meanwhile) depends on a dialogue and there is nothing wrong with a foreign tour guide who is knowledgable in Thailand‘s offerings. The standard run-of-the-gun touring is sooooooo outdated and worn out; take the daily mess at Damnernsaduak floating market, the city-and-temple tour, all those touts creaming completely outrageous overcommissions - just to name a few. The dual pricing, often addressed by non-Thais could be completely avoided by letting Thai people go FREE; after all, it is their land while visitors would pay whatever the venue wants (risking though that the visitors go elsewhere).

May I suggest a 12 hours notice of the exact whereabouts  at the immigration office for all foreigners so Thailand becomes more safe for Thai people.

No doubt he'll be along presently. However, door to door gestapo type tactics seem more likely based on past performance.

Hope is a fine thing, worgeordie, but cleaning up C.Mai Immigration's corruption probably needs something more substantial.

Wouldn't it be refreshing if he would actually start out by actually listening to the clients of the Immigartion service, the ex-pats and tourists?
