What is the average cost of car insurance for a 4 or 5 year old small economy car?

No such thing as "average" unless everybody has similar details.

Factors that will affect it may include -

Overall Value of vehicle

Level of cover for medical and property damage

Class of Insurance (1st,2nd,3rd plus in betweens.....)

Named drivers or not

Dealer or approved garage

Level of no claims bonus/recent accident claim

Any deductible

Dash cam or not

Break down assistance

 

Plus anything else I may have forgotten........

 

You could go online and check based on your requirements and or then get a broker to give you some comparative quotes so you can compare what you are getting for the premiums.

Yes annual. It is maybe lower than most as i volunteered to pay the first 5000 of any claim.
