A friend of mine has a Thai wife and a 2-year old son. His son holds both British and Thai passports. He has both a South African and a British passport. He is in Thailand on his British passport. He wishes to visit the UK with his family. As he is legally married, and the relationship is 10 years old and he has a son, he is confident of his wife obtaining a visitor visa.

He wishes to know if he requires a visitor visa for his son also. He is concerned that his son will not be allowed to board the flight in Bangkok as the child will leave Thailand on his Thai passport and enter the UK on his British passport.

When your friend checks-in for the flight, show the check-in agent his son's British passport. When they then pass through the embarkation immigration control, they can show the Thai immigration officer the son's Thai passport.

The airline's only concern is that they are not going to get stiffed for a £2000.00 charge for carrying an inadmissible passenger to the UK, and the British passport confirms the son's admissibility.

Scouse.
