I think the world famous musicians who come to Thailand to perform one or a few concerts get some variation of the 'Urgent Work Permit' applied for by the concert promoter for maximum 15 days

https://www.dejudomlaw.com/urgent-work-permit-thailand/

But I don't think Justin Bieber could get a regular long-term work permit because then he would be taking work away from all the Thai musicians who think they are Justin Bieber.

Who's Justin Bieber?

That was not what you posted, you posted some facetious remark about bribery.  If you did say the same thing, then quote it and prove my "confusion"...if you can.

Just Weird, you and that "confusion" emotican seem to be very attached to one another.:cheesy:

There are lots of famous world famous musicians who have previously had their concert tours in Thailand, Eg. Iyaz, Ne-Yo, Pitbull, Justin Beiber (yuck). Wonder if they all get work permits before playing coming here to have their concerts?

Yes they do. The concert promoter needs to arrange for a temporary work permit for all foreign musicians and technicians (eg sound engineer /roadies).

Thai immigration is not known for doing anything positive towards farangs.

So I would just forget about any sort of "new" work permit.

Immigration is for visa's, the labor department for work permits. would be nice if you would have any idea what you are talking about when you scold departments.

It's about time. This topic hasn't been brought up for 3 or 4 months.

Yes, you have to have a work permit to play in clubs.

Yes, it APPEARS to be OK to have a work permit for another job and be able to use it for playing in clubs.

Yes, we know you've been playing without one for years - we don't care.

LOL ???? Digital Work Permit means the actual work permit is in digital form - instead of getting a book you get your Work Permit through an app on your phone.

Could be because of the confusing garbage that so many members gratuitously post in their non-stop efforts to denigrate Thailand but just end up making fools of themselves (not referring to you, of course).

You know what's really sad?..posters who have to use the laughing emoticon to let others know that what they posted was(n't) amusing.

I am not interested in brand name musicians who earn big bucks in big venues. I want to hear talented professionals who visit Thailand playing in small venues and bars with talented Thais, of which there are many. This would allow Thai music to evolve and not become stagnant. Let us farangs and the Thais hear some top pianists, trombonists, trumpet players, saxophonists, etc. Thailand has excellent guitarists, percussionists, and vocalists but few of the aforementioned.

That would still be the old procedure then, it will take a while before they update their IT systems.

Old procedure? The Digital Work Permits are the NEW procedure to begin with.
