I´m a finnish citizen having been living with my girlfriend in Thailand for 9 months.

Now im going back to thailand after 2 months in Finland and planning to take my girlfriend for a 2 week holiday in Switzerland to visit my mother and her swiss citizen boyfriend and a 2-4 week stay in Finland in august.I woud get my mothers boyfriend to write some sort of a invitation or guarantee for coming to Switzerland and a letter from my father and his wife for the stay in Finland will this possibly be enough?. We are both 21 years old and she is from a poor family and dont own a house or land and dont have much money on her accaunt(not a bg).She doesn`t work either as i provide her with money and is marryied to a thai guy who won`t accept a divorce and have never been abroad and never applyied for a visa before, can she forget abaut a visa alredy? I can´t prove that i work and don`t want anyone to dig in my incomes as i coud get problems with taxes but have money on my accaunt so i can prove i can sponsor the holiday. And i can also put some money maybe a half or a million baht on her accaunt so she can shove she have money for the stay. Anyone know what else i can do to make it easier for her to get a visa?

If your GF would get a visa to enter Finland at all then it would be only a 2 week one for the first visit. They insist that you have known her for more than a year and both of you shall be questioned separately on how you met, where, when etc. Stories have to match, so keep it simple. And of course to even get this far you need the invitation stating your commitment to vouche for the expenses.

Myself being a lawobeying taxpayer, I have no knowledge of what records they'll be tracking against the invitation but I can assure that decision process is completely hidden and they will not comment on reasons for denial should you get one unless the reason has been process related. There's some public service in the modern days for your taxpayers money! But if you haven't paid your taxes in the first place then you're not expecting anything, aren't you?

When you apply for a visa they'll ask for her marital status but even divorced thai ladies have Mrs. in their passport so I'm not sure if that's against her. I do not think she needs to have money on her account if you've already promised in the invitation to take care of her. You need to buy the return ticket and travel insurance for her though. Put half a million in her account an the marriage with thai husband might suddenly revive.

From what I understand other EU countries are much more easy on the visas for thai ladies (apart for UK perhaps). One of my mates who lives in Sweden asked for 3 month first time visa and got 5 months. This was a month ago. Holland gave 3 months on request. This was September last year. Switzerland is a bit of a problem since they're not in the EU so she would not benefit from free roaming within Schengen countries either. Your best bet is to call your relatives in Sweden (every Finn has some there) to invite her and circulate your GF via Sweden.

Thais with a valid schengen visa doesn't need an extra visa for switzerland.

"As of August 1st, 2000, Thai citizens holding a valid „Schengen-Visa“ are exempted from visa obligation if the purpose of travelling to Switzerland is tourism, visits for business contacts, medical treatment and rehabilitation, participation in certain events as well as temporary media coverage for foreign media for a period not exceeding 90 days."

I hope this info is usefull for you.
