Pattaya mayor goes back to drawing board to battle flooding

Featured Replies

Pattaya already has big drains under Beach Rd. I saw them being put in, and they were very large. I suspect the problem is that when the road was widened, they destroyed the connections to the pipes, OR, they are so full of decades of sand and rubbish, they just don't have the capacity to do the job anymore.

There is no point in doing anything if the maintenance is not done after, and maintenance is an unknown concept in many official's dictionaries.

I know, call for a new committee to be formed to ponder this problem as they haven't got enough committees on the go at the minute. Failing that, just get the PM to do a Harry Potter Section 44 job and it will be gone.

A few good engineers could sort all this out.  Offer a prize at the university.  A good engineering student would come with something.  Hey, lets try everything and how long has this been going on.

Get rid of your pride Mr Mayor, go speak with the cloggies.... they've had their water problems under control for generations.

Cue the Chinese engineering firms.

They can build a giant trough.

That will certainly solve the breakfast buffet issue but what about Pattaya's flood problems?

But that's what the HAVE been doing since the first floods. They hand over a wedge and get a bunch of guys from the faculty of engineering at KMIT to come up with a plan. They try the plan which always fails so they give another wedge to a bunch of guys at the faculty of engineering at KMIT to come up with another plan. Repeat ad nauseum... or at least until all faculty staff have at least a 5-series Beemer in the designated parking space.

So you reckon giving the cash instead to the students under the tutelage of the faculty? Maybe the students will all get 3-series Beemers for their (ultimately failed) efforts?

I didn't know they were already doing this.
