Nyezhov
I find these things in Thailand to be so annoying as to be laughable, I just shake my head or roll my eyes and go on with life. Its almost like, wow, this is so weird its cool: 1. Whistles. 2. Roosters 3. The rubber bands on take out that are like Gordian knots. 4. Fat falangs in wife beaters. 5. Ladyboys on Sukhamvit. 6. Shouting the virtues of whatever is being sold in markets at the top of their lungs with a long drawn out Kaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh. 7. Loud phone conversations in the BTS. 8. Ketchup on pizza. 9. Planters or benches in Condos at ankle level with sharp edges. 10. No underwear or socks allowed in washing machines. 11. Plastic bags for everything. 12. If it doesnt have a rubberband its taped. 13. Toilet paper instead of proper napkins. 14. 2 baht for ice. Im sure there is more, thats just from the past two days. StreetCowboy
Indian music; I don’t shake my head but I bobble it a little bit. Except for last night when I was woken up by premature Depavali celebrations, and I put the pillow over my head; I was lucky it was too late for the tooth fairy, or I’d have wounded up mumplaiming amour miss!

Popular Post swissie
It's sad. There comes along a guy that opens a thread that should mostly produce humoristic/sarcastic responses at best. Especially as long term residents must have found out in the meantime, that living in Thailand means living in some sort of a friendly benevolent circus. What I would really like to know is: Have the long term Farangs arrived with no sense of humor or have they lost their sense of homor along the way, by living too long in Thailand? I was told, that a vicious mother in law and an obnoxous family living nearby can rob a Farang of his sense of humor in no time at all regardless if a good Thai-Wife is at his side or not. That would explain the facial expression of some Farang residents. Napoleon looked happier, even as he realized that he lost at Waterloo. Gentlemen, you live in paradise, never forget! Act accordingly. Display a broad smile (24/7). This is not a recommendation, this is an order! After all, you live in paradise! Non-compliance (refusing to display happyness in public) can result in the denial of future visa-extensions! Party-Poopers have been expelled from a former paradise just because they started a conversation with a snake that only spoke Thai instead of English. I trust, that Donald J. Trump had nothing to do with this back then. You have been warned and you have read it here first. As hard as may be, keep up your (adapted) Thai Humor. Cheers.
Popular Post CharlieH
* Counting notes 5 times before putting them in the till, or giving out as change. * Waiting so long to pay for anything! (Ever noticed how long it seems to take to pay for anything ?) * Double pricing. * Food not coming out together at any restaurant. * Being totally ignored, while people speak directly and only to the wife. * Supermarket aisles blocked with boxes of stock with no thought at all for customers. * Motorcycles with no lights at night. 12

Ditto bikes passing you on the left, then turning right across your path, talk about death-wish. AND * Counting notes 5 times before putting them in the till, or giving out as change. Which is still wrong of course. * Food not coming out together at any restaurant. One of the issues eating here, we try to get sharing food or at least nibbles to keep everyone happy (of course they come out last). * Being totally ignored, while people speak directly and only to the wife. Absolutely. * Supermarket aisles blocked with boxes of stock with no thought at all for customers. And this. * Motorcycles with no lights at night. Or lights of assorted colours (with no relation to the end of the vehicle they are fitted to) and/or flashing. 4

Popular Post Cadbury
1. Handing over your cash to pay for your purchases at the supermarket and the check-out chick gives the change back to your wife or gf. 2. Going to your regular food market supplier (or doctor) and they blab in Thai to your current partner about other women you have had been there with previously. Happened to me on occasions and requires a lot of fast thinking and talking and lies. 1 1

dotpoom
What drives me absolutely crazy...worldwide...is the following. In my opinion,.. 95% of women of all ages, class, countries, status etc., .."Cover their mouths when, laughing, get excited, shocked. It's as if there is an invisible wire attached from their lower jaw bone to their arms, right one left on, or both. The mouth opens and immediately the hand shoots up to cover it... I used to think it was to block bad breath, (no longer think that). Then I thought it was to hide bad teeth (no longer think that either). I like to watch a lot of Talent shows on Y/T and it is especially noticeable on there...A lady gets 4 "Yes's"...the camera zooms in and what do we see...The prettiest sight in the world. A beautiful lady having her life's dream fulfilled but Ohh!...can only see have the beauty...the bottom half is blocked by the big mauler or both maulers covering the bottom half of the face....Why do the Mother's not teach them better ways to express joy than this, I ask myself. The camera at the talent show them moves over to the mother and grand mother, sisters, cousins and next door neighbours etc.,and guess what...all those ladies too ..have the maulers over their mouths....I'm beginning to see men starting to do it....Strangely enough. Thailand was the first place I noticed this when I first came to live here 18 yrs. ago. Now I rarely see it happening in Thailand... They have given this deplorable habit to the rest of the world ...possibly.? Edited November 5, 2018 by dotpoom
Popular Post MadMuhammad
*retired expats that complain about waiting and how precious their time is. *people that have lived here for years complaining over & over about the same thing ie: waiting Everthing else I just shrug and get on with life. Honestly, what’s there to really complain about when you live in a tropical country with such a relaxed life style (oh I forget, *people that complain about the heat. I mean seriously?)

A few months ago when i was in hospital with my infected foot, wife was away at an uncles funeral. Now as i was in a private room, hospital rules state you must have another person present in your room at all times. Wife organised with the nurses for a Thai lady to sit in my room whilst she was away. Doctor comes in examines my foot, turns to the Thai lady and is discussing my situation to her. I spoke to the doctor 3 times, hello i am the patient, this lady is not known to me, only present in the room to comply with hospital rules. Doctor turned to me and said, quiet please i am talking to the lady, i will not post my reply to the doctor, but you can imagine what it was. 2
