The ‘soft’ opening for the new Central Floresta was on September 10. Now the new shopping centre has had its official endorsement. The Thai Minister of Transport yesterday officially opened the Central Floresta and walkway, linking Central Festival and Floresta.

The opening ceremony was lheaded up by the Minister of Transport Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, the Phuket Governor Pakkapong Tawipat and Wallaya Chirathivat, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Central Pattana.

Khun Wallaya says, “Central Pattana or CPN aims to make this store a ‘Lifestyle Centre’, a place full of happiness for everyone.  Also being a place for other organisations to hold activities as a centre of the Phuket community.”

I thought that uncle Tu had already bestowed happiness for everyone?

Another perspective on this from a mate visiting from OZ...……..

Now, I had been there a couple of times over the past weeks and really couldn't see what all the fuss was about...…...big, poss too spacious, loads of eateries in/near the supermarket section etc and not vey busy.

Went there yesterday with aforementioned mate and again not very busy, and this prompted him to ask, "who is this for, because the everyday Thai is not evident here, perhaps a few of the more wealthy, and also not many farangs"?

Hadn't given that too much thought I have to admit, but he has a point!
