so 13 pages of general euphoria over a fake news thread?

I too would like some clarification on this, there seem to be a few outlets reporting vapes will be taxed including Sanook as stated in the OP, khaosod and thairath. Although there's no clear indication as to when this will take effect.

That's ok, as long as they ban them from being used in the same places as the "real" cigarettes, e-smoke annoys, stinks and endangers in the same way as "real" smoke

Its not smoke its water vapor, smoke is a result of combustion, with a vape there is no combustion...

If we are going to make statements best to be factual about things

Annoys ? Maybe

Stinks ? Subjective

E-smoke ? Nope - Water Vapor

Endangers in same way as smoke ?... unfounded/ unproven, current scientifc data suggests not..

People seem to think it's water vapour but I'm not convinced, it's glycol vapour.

Its most likely a combination of both given glycol absorbs water but the flash point is higher than water, c.a. 115c, therefore could we suggest the juice is a combination of glycol/water/Flavouring, coil flashes off the water (the vapor) and the glycol degrades ie the black deposit on the coil that builds up ?

Money from so-called "sin taxes" should be earmarked to fund a universal health care system. Legalized casinos should be in every large Thai city. Alcohol taxes would be exempt, since they've been spent for ages, but the rest should fund a "medicare for all" type program.  I am not optimistic that this will happen, I'm just hopeful.

They are an excellent tool to stop smoking, i went from 40 a day to 0 all down to  using a vape...

Mate you never gave up.

You just swapped it for something different than tobacco.

Most vapers will smoke tobacco if they run out of Juice or what ever it is.

Those who vape are closer to starting smoking again,  than quitting for good.

Why don't you just quit ?

Just saying.

Ps I was a 40 a day red Malbro guy, so i kind of understand a little bit about it all, but that was 19 years ago.

So what, he's not smoking tobacco, if he buys enough spare liquid and has a couple of the vaping machines lying around he will never run out and he can taper down to zero nicotine at which point it's the same as not smoking.

'Mate you never gave up.'

Maybe he likes vaping.  Nothing worse than ex-smoker.

So what? The main trick is getting away from smoking cigarettes.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you can have the best of both worlds.

From just one website:
"To use an e-cigarette, you load the liquid and apply electricity, heating the liquid until it vaporizes. At this temperature, the chemicals inside the fluid undergo a breakdown process and are converted into other chemicals. Using an advanced measurement system called nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, scientists examined the new chemicals, and in the process, found a particularly concerning result.
When the e-cigarette liquid broke down, it produced both formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing agents, a troubling result when you consider that formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. In fact, the recent article compares the risk of developing cancer from this e-cigarette toxin to the risk of cancer from smoking traditional cigarettes, and states that that the risk with e-cigarettes may be up to 15 times higher."

And you forgot the stinking and annoying part also...

Best you go home. It'll be better for your all round health at least you'll know the drains won't stink.

I smoked for more than 30 years, I gave up about 10 times varying between 1 week and 3 months but I couldn't quit the habit until vaping came a long. Now I am clean for nearly one year, I have gone down from 18 mg to 3 mg of nicotine during this time and I am eternally grateful for vaping. I can really feel the difference and it could maybe save or if not prolong my life by quite some time. When you get down to nicotine, it's basically like being a caffeine freak, same like people who drink 10 coffees a day. Its not perfect but it is 10 times better that smoking, I can't really see why anyone is against vaping, if they are, they should be religiously against red meat, any from of alcohol and be a radical anti pollution activist just from a point of self interest but probably they are just ignorant.

Your post was most informative, johnsnapo.  I still crave a ciggie every day but only when I concentrate on it.

The main point of your post that clicked with me was 'prolong my life.' I really was suffering towards the end as well as my wife stating that my breath stank when I breathed on her at night.  Really terrible what I descended to and glad my wife pulled me up.  I was going through 30 fags a day minimum and I was a slave to this expensive habit.

When does everyone think they will be made legal? I’m travelling to Bangkok in january

Bring the juice in an empty shampoo bottle, keep the hardware in your carry on baggage (They rarely inspect that, especially if you keep it small) I've been through customs about 8 times loaded with vape gear and no problem. there is even a vape site here in Thailand where you can buy the things you need. Just google it, you will find it. keep on vaping !

This is what I do too. A £1 bottle of 350ml 'Coconut & Lychee' shampoo, emptied (and washed many times over!), then filled with juice and it goes in my toiletries bag along with some spare coils, etc. Batteries and tank in my carry-on bag. Never had a problem passing through security / customs.

The only problem I had was security at Singapore. They spotted my vape and said it was illegal in Singapore, blah blah blah. I knew this but plead ignorance and said I wouldn't use it. It was not confiscated.

I expect the Lychee shampoo trick is the first thing they'd look for????  How about a medicine bottle of some sort?  I've read people dismantle their vape and hide in different parts of their luggage.

Well I'd hope the first thing security are looking for are actual dangerous items. Yeah, a medicine bottle or contact lens fluid would be better. I have neither so I'll stick with the shampoo bottles. Really, the chances of them opening up and testing someones shampoo is fairly remote. My main concern is always my vaper, but I have a spare in my condo just in case.

These studies are little better than witchcraft and easily get contradicted. The latest proper medical study using real people actually suggests vaping alleviates COPD, whilst the study on cardiac events proves fatally flawed, and the sad death of a teen was not connected to the vape he'd recently purchased:

Sheer opinion.  Why do you think this?
