BANGKOK, 24 November 2018 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said social consciousness is needed in democratic rule and urged the people to get prepared for a general election.

Deputy Secretary to the Prime Minister Puttipong Punnakanta quoted the premier as saying Thailand is now heading towards the general election, reminding the people to be aware that true democracy is to ensure peace in society, maintain public benefits, and protect the nation, religion, and monarchy.

He said some people might have understood democracy is a limitless state where anyuone can do anything freely, but the truth remains all actions must stay within limits of the law, with acceptance to the majority and respects to the minority, and not using any group of people as tools to perpetrate conflicts or violence.

He added the premier has confirmed the progress towards general election is on track according to the roadmap, and encouraged the general public, especially young people, to go out and vote good and skilled persons to help develop the country.

Put on your big gold ring and your bracelet. Wear your best yellow tie with the soup spots and come on down to vote!

"... Prayut Chan-o-cha said social consciousness is needed in democratic rule ..."

Hey, this is Thailand.  We'll have none of that.

Someone needs to slip in the words "coups are no longer allowed to happen" right next to the word "ensure".  Then you'll have something closer to 'true democracy' as oppose to democracy at the end of a gun.

Has the great hooha been anything other than vacuous ?  The man has not had a profound thought in four years if ever.  When covering this man, there is very little to report.  This is just a mirror of vapid, non profound, fun sucking, delusional vacantness.

YB,

Please tell us what you really think; I am tired of these vague, ambiguous musings that don't spell things out clearly!

A true Democracy under a totalitarian Dictatorship system. Oh yeah, that makes perfect sense. This guy is too much. Only thing he is starting is a civil war

But that is ok. The Thai army usually run away and hide when faced with a conflict where the other side is armed.
