I am not sure if this topic is better in the Bangkok forum or maybe the General, but its here anyway.

I am planning on spending a couple of days in Bangkok shortly. This visit is mainly to pick up a few bits and pieces. I will probably be staying in the Samran hotel on Petchaburi Road, near the shopping malls. I have never seen a live Thai boxing match and would like to do it this time if possible. I have no idea where the venues are in Bangkok other than Lumpini Park. I don’t know if this is a good place to watch and the prices etc. Can anyone recommend me a good venue for an evenings boxing.

I would prefer to steer clear of the tourist girlie bar boxing.

Thanks.

You can't beat Lumpini for it's old school style.

There are fights 4 or 5 times a week. Tuesdays are generally the best as they may have title fights on. The price it a bit over the top but I love it there. Beers are 50b. Ringside for a farang can be between 1500 to 2500 but the stands are only 5 to 10 metres away so go there. If you arrive a little late you can also request a cheaper ticket which (after bartering) you will get. That's the best bet.

you can check imes, prices and upcoming fights on here (dont buy your ticket from a tuk tuk driver ha ha)

a little out of date there rgs2001uk

Samrong stadium hasn't had any boxing on there for a good few years now. The times for Lumpini and Ratchadamnern have also changed as the fights start at 630 pm now have done for at least the last 5 years.

Alos have a new stadium in Bangkok now the Bangkok Boxing Stadium which is not far from the Thailand cultural centre off of Ratchadapisek, this stadium is run by Sukonesonghchai promotions and has fights every saturday afternoon from 2 and if you dont mind travelling a little the Siam Omnoi stadium out in Samut Sakhon has nice fights every Saturday from midday that are also televised on Channel 3 this is a bit cheaper than the main stadiums but often has good names on the shows.

Let me know what days you are going to be in Bangkok and I can check which nights has the best fights on for you.
