Phuket Surf Life Saving Competition has wrapped up its seventh successful event at Patong Beach, Phuket.

This year there were 19 teams for Open men’s and women’s divisions and 13 teams for Youth Boys and Girls.

The winners of the event were The Zemberles Life Saving Team from The Philippines. Second place went to locals, the Nai Harn Surf Lifesaving Club. Third place went to the Sabah Life Saving Team from Malaysia.

Good stuff, especially the nippers, hopefully they hold it somewhere other than Patong next time its in Phuket.

Patong is a good location as it is a big bay and protected from the rough ocean waves.

Good to hear that this years event was a success.

They need some real competition, bring in a team from Australia, that should help improve their standards.

The Zemberles Life Saving Team

I wonder if they are connected to the Philippine province of Zambales?

Great to see & hopefully will continue to grow. I was a surf lifesaver for many years & being in the club promoted a great sense of camaraderie, learning how to save lives, being able to enjoy the boards & the boats, competition with other clubs, national champs. We still managed to get into some mischief along the way but it is a healthy, fun pastime & generally kept us away from  trouble
