An 11th League win in a row but other than that little to Celebrate. Good first half and 2 up we were flat in the 2nd half. The lack of spectator noise was a good indication of the turgid nature after the interval.            Jullien was woeful and let himself be dragged into a running battle with an admittedly annoying opponent. Defensively he was very sloppy and FF saved the jerseys on one occasion. Dreadful watching Bolingoli making a meal of a shove.

Once again we wasted several good chances with poor options up front and continue to win narrowly which should be much more comfortable. Only for Eddie we could have been sweating on the outcome.

The thought of the same eleven for Sunday worries me. We need to be far more competitive in midfield. If it is another 90 minutes of firefighting I doubt if we will be as fortunate as in the LC. Ntcham I  think will struggle to get into the game because he won't get the time. while Brown's experience will camouflage his lack of pace but it will leave McGregor and Christie continually under pressure. Neither of us have much confidence in Boligoli. I hope I am wrong but I expect to be living on my nerves.

A defeat in the Glasgow Derby at Parkhead cuts our lead to two points and you would expect The Rangers to win the game in hand. As in the LC final we were playing 2nd fiddle for most of the game and can have no complaints with the result. In fact we got a huge break with the 1st half equalizer.

As 3 weeks ago most of the play was in the Celtic half of the field and we again were being dominated . They were moving the ball much more fluently and after a reasonable start we were hanging on. What was worrying was the number of silly free kicks we were conceding with Jullien a particular offender. We were making no progress up front and were continually failing to trouble the visitors. In our first decent bit of play on the half hour we got a penalty for Katic pulling Jullien's shirt at a corner. But McGregor saved from Christie's kick. In previous encounters against Celtic he has saved penalties diving to his right and you would imagine Celtic should have been aware of this. You would also question why Eddie did not take the kick. Shortly after Jullien's header from a corner was cleared off the line by Davis.

They soon regained control and went ahead shortly after. With Forrest anonymous Barisic was having a field day and he centred for Kent unmarked at the edge of the box  to sweep it home via the inside of the post. You have to say it was a superb goal. Within 6 minutes Celtic levelled with a huge slice of luck. Eddy was fighting a lone battle up front and as so often he was dispossessed . The ball broke kindly for Calmac whose shot deflected off Eddy and in leaving McGregor helpless. Replays showed it hit eddy's arm on the way in.  So a lucky Celtic got to HT level at 1-1.

As in the first half most of the play was heading towards the Celtic goal. Frimpong was badly caught out and Morelos under pressure scooped over. But after a silly foul by Bolingoli The Rangers mounted a severe onslaught. Katic headed them in front again after a series of corners. It was a free header and he made the most of it with Ajer badly at fault. You felt it was the decisive blow and so it proved. Celtic huffed and puffed to the end. Davis cleared another effort off the line from a corner and Eddie had a decent effort saved. The ineffectual Forest and Jonhston were subbed but it made little difference . Griffin came on and wasted a free kick in a dangerous area but the visitors were coping efficiently and had chances to increase their lead. In the dying seconds Morelos was sent off for a trademark dive in the area having already being booked.

So  all our fears were realized and one can only hope this will be a wake up call for the 2nd half of the season.

Surprised why Lennon changed line up, Nicham had started previous games. Again, we were over run in midfield, same as cup final. There was just no energy, they had more apatite. Eddy was feeding off poor quality ball. Even our throw ins were pathetic, absolutely no movement. Brown and young Jerry were the only ones getting after it. Looked like we were running on fumes, just looked tired. Lennon not utilizing squad in previous games.

Ajer has been at fault for a few goals this season, pathetic in the air, in both boxes. He has potential but too weak in the air, would maybe see him as Browns eventual successor.

Forrest looks like he has a mental block playing them. Its like Slippery has figured out how play against the lone striker and 2 wingers.

Looking ahead, will be good to have ElHam and Ely back after the break. Can see Jerry being used further forward when ElHam returns.

Transfer window we should prioritize a striker, that can hit the ground running, try get Benko back. And do whatever it takes to get FF and Ely permanently.

Could well be end of line for the unreliables -Tam, Joso and Griff, along with the likes of Gordon, Ralston, Eboue, Hendry, Benyu, Sinclair, Miller, maybe Bayo and Morgan out on load. Squad is bloated.

Not quiet as torturous as international breaks, so its back to action on Sat evening with a cup tie. Once again, several injuries in key positions-all our No 10's out-Aussie Tam, Christie and Ely, along with left wing players, MJ and Ely. ElHam also out. Hard to predict who will play.

Half way through transfer window and its one in/one out, although looks like Morgan will go to the states when he gets a work permit. Cant understand so many Celtic fans getting upset with Sinclair's departure, sure was good for first half of Celtic career but <deleted> for second half, not a time for sentiment. Same with Griff, was a 40 goal a season striker 5 years ago, non contributor for past 2 years, would loan him and Bayo out and make a call at seasons end.

Looking forward to see Polish Pat, apparently is ready to hit the ground running.

Not surprised to note failure to offload deadwood/non contributors. Squad id bloated with so many that are never going to make it.

Was interesting to see our reserves play Chelsea last night, some exciting prospects their-except for one center half.

CELTIC: Mullen, O’Connor, Church, Deas (Welsh 46), Hendry, Robertson, Karamoko (Savoury 84), Coffey, Afolabi (McGrath 81), Connell, Burt (McBride 89).

Robertson with the winner, maybe puts himself in the frame for cup tie, surely we can afford to try a few here and go full strength at Killi midweek.

Back in action after the break and an expected win at Firhill in a Glasgow Derby. Celtic were almost totally in control apart from a period in the 2nd half but they made heavy weather of winning. Griffiths put us ahead early on having been set up by a Thistle misplaced pass. Good finish by Griff showed how he still

knows how to finish. He went on to have a decent game with some good flicks and lay offs. But apart from that very little danger of more goals apart from a few powder puff efforts. Denied a penalty when Frimpong was pushed in the area. A foul anywhere on the pitch but not in the area. Given the whistler's role in the infamous "honest mistake" against Caley a few years ago hardly a surprise. Right on HT Thistle almost levelled . Brown  made a hash of a clearance when Taylor had things under control led to a dangerous ball across the area which Miller stretching hit the post. A lucky escape.

Celtic huffed and puffed in the 2nd half but created very little . Overplaying and trying to walk it in was very frustrating to watch. As the half wore on the home team began to get more adventerous and when Celtic began to again assume control a Griffiths free kick set up Eddie his shot was tipped on to to the bar and behind by the keeper. Earlier the keeper had made a good block down at his post from a jullien Header. Celtic quickly struck again with 10/12 minutes to go. Calmac scored with the aid of a deflection to make things safe. In the final moment Jullien made a hash of a comfortable situation to present a Thistle player with a clear run on goal. He rounded FF who thankfully did not foul him and was about to pull the trigger when Frimpong got back to force him to miss. Ref gave a penalty which all commentators disagreed with and Thistle scored.

Overall anything but convincing from Celtic. Still far too fond of overplaying against sides who set out to defend in depth, and looking for perfect goals. I was impressed with Taylor and am of the opinion he is our best left back. Jozo suddenly brought on when Bitton was injured looked rusty. Ajer is likely to be back on Wednesday at Rugby Park. Late cameos for Polish Paddy and Arzani.

The game did nothing to dispel the increasing unease I feel the way the team is performing. We are virtually a point behind in the title race and need to be winning continually. We have a lot of potentially tricky await fixtures coming up and we need to be near our best. Time will tell of the quality of new signing.

Still far too fond of overplaying against sides who set out to defend in depth,

We are indeed, especially Eddy, I was constantly screaming at the TV "shoot". It was so similar to our performances in December, controlling the game, but failing to put away teams, and just hanging on at the end.

Both full backs seemed to suffer from not having wide men in front of them.

Big CJ's mistake at the end is a by-product of not enough quality competition for places within the team, both him and Ajer are guaranteed to start because of limited options, same with Forrest and most other players.

I was impressed with Tam, some silky touch's gave us a different dimension, hopefully can get a run and stay injury free.

Our never ending injuries seems to be getting worse, CJ and the unreliable Joso our only fit center half's and no fit wingers. NL was talking up Shevd and guy not even makes bench, would have been ideal game for him, maybe injured??

Still need some players in, not ones for the future/squad fillers. Center half that will compete-maybe Brendan can help. Maybe then we can try 3 at the back. Also an experienced street wise striker who will bully defenders, hold up the ball and link up.

Not sure what went on in Dubai, hearing about double secessions, bleep tests and basically little R&R. And then we return to Glasgow and Ajer, Forrest Shevd ElHam and Bitton crooked??

Only way I see us pulling out of this slump is a few quality signings.

A cruical 3 points gained at Rugby Park.( they all are now). Not without some cost due to an injury to Frimpong in the closing minutes after a rather wild "tackle " by Power. We will be fortunate if it does turn out to be bruising which would be the best case scenario. He had an excellent game and had helped set up the first 2 goals.

As usual Celtic had the better of the game. Great save by the keeper from a Jozo header . Griffiths slipped in good position, Calmac was wide after good work by Eddie but it was a trademark run by Frimpong which led to the opener. His cross took a slight deflection to Eddie whose neat control saw him beat Power and finish neatly. As the interval approached Celtic were giving away some silly free kicks which was annoying. A poor Brown pass led to a Killie break and a dangerous ball across the goal area.

On the resumption a careless Ollie failed to clear danger and another anxious moment. but Celtic went 2 ahead when Frimpong cut inside a good ball to Calmac who set up Griff to finish. Goalie will feel he should have saved it. Griff childishly started winding up Boyd in the commentary box. Celtic then had their best spell with Killie trying to get something back and we were pouring forward. Griff who had several deft touches set up Eddie but the keeper made an excellent block. As we were reminded that Killie had not scored for several games they struck back. Jozo got the ball away but it was returned to the danger area and a neat header made it 2-1. I would not fault anyone rather it was a good piece of opportunism by the home team.   A nervous period followed as the prospect of dropping points flashed into view but fortunately we had only to wait 7 minutes before Jullien powered a header home from a corner to make it 3-1. FF made a good block and we were comfortable to the end apart from the Frimpong injury.

Overall a bit of an improvment on the usual dreadful pitch which gives hope we can further improve on grass.

3 points at a difficult venue. Eddy did miss a sitter also in first half, after Griff got clobbered by keeper.

Encouraging to see 3 at the back, although Hayes was so poor as a wing back.

Frimpong really impressed me, his decision making is that of an old veteran. One of the only times he was one on one, he skins the guy and sets up Eddy. Hopefully nothing serious.

Griff and Eddy starting to work well together, Griff did <deleted> me off with his needless fouling and too many times tried impossible flicks but his goal was what he is all about-peeling off the last defender and getting off a shot.

Ajer and CJ played well, solid. Still not convinced with Joso, especially as a right sided back 3 player, we so need ElHam back, ideal role for him.

Good to see Johnston back, hoping he can stay fit.

Disgusting to hear fat pie man sprouting <deleted> about Griff post match, Sky should bin him.

Hendry off to Aussie on loan, hopefully they keep him permanently. Still lots to offload.

3 pts, 3 goals and a clean sheet. But that does not reflect the match.

Looks like our injury list continues to grow, Ajer, Jerry missing and Tam, Eddy on bench with sore toe.

Poor first half, saw us ahead by 1 at HT, a soft penalty converted by CMcG. But County missed a few sitters, due to some shambolic defending.

Second half we did improve but it was the introduction of Eddy on 63rd that changed the game, by the 68th he had bagged 2 good goals. We are so reliant on him. Griff was poor in lone striker role, but 3 game starts in a week not ideal.

Hayes was pathetic at LB, did get in a few decent crosses but guy is out of his depth as a LB. Why spend 5.5M on 2 left backs and start Hayes? Baffling. Bauer on the right did reasonably well. Joso poor, cant believe we are considering a contract extension, we need to upgrade this position.

But for me, main issue is the midfield 3 of Brown Nicham and CMcG just does not work.

Micky J looked lively but no end product, did get in on goal but tried to be too clever and set up a team mate. Forrest tried hard but not happening for him.

Look's like big CJ with his youngest......

Just watched the highlights of both. The Jam Tarts have indeed given us a boost but it is still very tight and we are under serious pressure. We have played 3 away games less the The Rangers so while todays result was welcome it is by no means decisive.

As you commented Celtic's defending especially in the first half was dreadful. Hayes was all at sea and RC could have scored twice when he was badly caught out of position.  He was slaughtered on facebook. Ollie wasn't earning too much praise either.

Thank goodness for Eddie. He made the 3 points safe. There are times I could strangle Mikey J with his overplaying. Silly pass inside near the end when he should have passed it into the corner of the net.

Away to St Johnstone Wednesday. I wonder how long Jeremie will be out. It would be great to get Elmahed and Elyonoussi back to full fitness.

My only hope for us to pull out of this slump we have been in for the past few months is to get back our top players from injury-Christie Frimpong ElHamed and Ely.

Its just does not look like we are going to get a marque signing in this window, just the usual project squad fillers.

We could do with a center half, and a street wise experienced striker who wont be bullied, can hold up the ball and bring others into play.

And Lennon needs to sort out the left back circus. And Forrest needs to regain his form.

Soro in finally, could be a player, seen some clips and should be able to hit the ground running.

Still waiting on Morgan getting a work permit before he departs.

There's not a game goes by that we seem to add a player to our injury list. Young Jerry to see a specialist-not good news and the totally unreliable Joso likely out now. Highlights the critical need to get a center half in before Friday, with ElHam looking far away.

Good win for reserves at Huddersfield, a few impressive performances by all accounts. especially with the players we have allow to leave on loan.

CELTIC: Mullen, Church, Paterson, Hjelde, Deas, Connell, Karamoko (Savoury 78), Coffey, McGrath (Harper 64), Henderson, Burt (Oko-Flex 73).
Subs: Hughes, Wylie, Murray

Another 3 points tonight with an easy win at ST Johnstone. Celtic totally in command had it wrapped up after half an hour. The question is how good were Celtic because the home side were dreadful. They could have been 6 or 7 down by HT.  It is doubtful if Celtic will find another defense as accommodating this season. Chances came and were missed with regularity. Ntcham leapt high to nod in the first from a Forrest cross. That was after 6 minutes. Celtic could have been 2 up at that stage. The 2nd after 20 minutes Forrest easily made room against the full back and fired across goal into the far corner. Griffith after 26 minutes a good finish from an excellent Taylor cross. He had missed a sitter early on from a similar Taylor cross. You hoped Celtic would add more but they were unable to add to the score again in the first half.

The second half was very dull by comparison. The Saints became more competitive but Celtic just went through the motions. It could happen that goal difference might decide the title and you would have hoped for a few more. When Mikey J went off injured near the end we had used our 3 subs so we had to do a bit of defending in the closing stages . Away to Hamilton Saturday lunchtime.

Awesome first half display. Taylor played well, hope he gets an extended run, Forrest looking good with a goal and an assist, Griff starting to get there, that's 3 goals in 4 games, seems to be effective with playing with Eddy, guess it ties up more defenders and leaves gaps.

Encouraging to see Christie on the bench, would have been good to get him some game time. And surprised Eddy was not replaced by Polish Pat sooner, could easily have given him 30 min.

Once again, our injuries continue, Johnston off and not sure about Joso.

Been a bit of talk about bringing in a winger, MJ's looking so fragile, so we may see a new winger come in, Ely still out, a few departures, leaving few options.

Transfer window now shut, good that we did not loose any of our star players.

Managed to get 2 players in that should contribute over the next 4 months. Would have liked to see some of the dead wood and non contributors offloaded, squad way too bloated, did manage to get 2 out and a few out on loan.

Guess we will all have opinions on who we would like to sign, and am sure NL would also liked to have got in a few more but never happened.

Sure, would have been great to get FF and Ely permanently, but never happened.

Overall, squad is strong, just these injuries we seem to always have.

Next up today, Hamilton away.

Another 3 points today with a hard fought win over the Accies. On the dreadful plastic pitch ball control was very difficult and Celtic struggled for long periods. Their big centre forward gave both Ajer and in particular Jullien a very demanding game until he was subbed with 20 or so minutes to go. Celtic had more of the play but were creating nothing as they failed to control the ball and shots were inevitably blocked by a resolute defense. Forster had to make a good save after Ajer made a mess of a clearance and 6 minutes later the home side were ahead when the big centre forward rose above Jullien to power in a header form a corner. Over the course of the game we had approx 15 corners which were all headed clear. We never won a header in their box througout the game.

Griff had needlessly got involved after a challenge and was fortunate to escape with a yellow after appearing to put a foot on a defenders chest. I wouldn't rule out a citing. Hopefully not a second yellow in the dressing room. His next action was what we want when he read a long ball and rolled Hamilton who took him down on the edge of the area. He was red carded and Eddie took a delightful free kick over the wall and into the roof of the net. so we got to HT mightily relieved to be level at 1-1.

Griff was in the action again in the second half. He blazed over when he should have down better. Then he had a free kick which the goalie fingered on to the bar and safety. With an extra man Celtic were piling on the pressure but Accies were still fairly comfortable.

But a few shrewd changes finally swung things Celtic's way. Christie not long on swung in a good centre which Jullien met and cushioned into the far corner with about 12 minutes to go. Another 3 minutes saw Celtic wrap it up . Eddie now getting a bit of room took a delightful return pass from Tam Rogic and finished neatly. He went on to miss a sitter for his hat trick. But there was enough time for him to set up Forrest for a fourth in injury time for a 4-1 win which will do our goal difference no harm

Thanks to events elsewhere we are now 7 points ahead having played a game more. Not decisive but comforting. All three substitutions worked very much in our favour. It will be interesting to see the starting 11 for Wednesday night.

Dug out the 3 pts eventually against a stubborn HA.

Interesting to see starting line up, an indication that NL is adamant about going 3 at the back, with the 2 up front. Not sure if it is permanent or just against diddy teams?? Or lack of right backs and wingers? So a debut for young Welsh, I see no reason why the likes of Bauer or Brown cannot be used there, saying that, boy did have a decent game.

Taylor was OK in first half but poor in second half. Not sure if a wing back role suites him, reckon he is more comfortable in a back 4. Maybe the more attacking Boli would be more suited.

Shambolic defending from Ajer, big FF bailed him out and again, big CJ beaten in the air for their goal. He did redeem himself with a brilliantly taken goal later. But once again, bullied by a big pork chop striker, sometimes its like he gets sucked in/too tight at times.

Was not looking good after 70 min and NL then starts to make changes, Hayes brings pace to the left flank, and the introduction of both RC and Tam changes the dynamics and we finally break them down, another class display by Eddy.

Another quick turn around, Steelmen up next.

Hopefully, starting to turn the corner with injuries, great to have Christie back fully fit and now Ely and Joso in squad for tonight's game at Motherwell. Hayes apparently struggling, should see Taylor start. Just need to get Jerry and Elham back, new guys get up to speed and things will be looking a lot more positive.

Griff free to play, despite best efforts of the likes of Fat Sally. But Griff needs to screw the nut.

Interesting to hear NL say that Boli Boli is being given "time out". Not sure what that is all about but our left back circus rumbles on. 3 players GT, Boli and Hayes, who cost around 7M, and neither setting the heather alight, what's going on there?? Boli did get a decent run and was bang average, in a back 4, while he does look more suited to a wing back role and now Taylor getting a run as a wing back-while he clearly has limited pace and zero ability to skin a defender, looks more suited to a full back role.

In the end very comfortable but until the 3rd goal uneasy as our defence looked anything but composed.  Ajer in particular was extremely shaky and Jullien had many hairy moments also. Fortunately the Well had no real threat in attack but they were giving Celtic plenty of problems in the first half. FF saved the jerseys when Jullien failed to cut out a cross ball. Celtic grabbed an early goal when Griff regained possession and sent Calmac scampering through. He set up Eddie who availed of a lucky bounce to slide it into the corner. Griff high and wide with a decent chance. But gradually the Well began to gain control. They were pinning Celtic back. Celtic were infuriating to watch. Ollie overhit 5 or 6 balls out of play and Celtic were being hustled off the ball everywhere. Not always by legimate means it had to be said. Some very sloppy play from Celtic but we got to ht 1 up.

You hoped for better in the 2nd half and thankfully our prayers were answered within 5 minutes . Terrific run by Calmac. Well failed to cut out his centre and Griff has only to touch it into the corner. A minute later a bad pass from him wasted a great chance, Celtic were Well on top but the home team were not lying down. Jullien gave away a corner with a sloppy back pass and with plenty of time to go you feared a Well goal. Gris set up by Eddie headed against the bar and Ollie missed a sitter. Finally with 15 minutes to Forrest passed to Calmac who volleyed a terrific 3rd. Christie on a sub was chopped down outside the area and Eddie did the trick again from the free kick.

very comfortable in the end but our back three were very uncertain at times. Calmac and Eddie our stand out players.

Clyde in the cup at the weekend and you would imagine some of the regulars will be rested. Hopefully not a Roy Keane repeat.

CMcG and Eddy outstanding. Griff worked hard, great tracking back to win the ball back for first goal, good finish for his goal, also some nice touches/link up. Was involved in one of our best moves, resulting in Ollie missing an absolute sitter.

Our 3 defenders were poor, about half a dozen errors between them, that would be punished by better attackers. Big FF bailed them out a few times.

Forrest poor but once again, but then comes up with brilliant assist.

Next up a Sunday cup tie at Clyde, think its a lego pitch, would expect to see some players rested.

Looks like Clyde game is in danger because of high winds, which mean it will be played this midweek and Hearts game postponed indefinitely, due to no midweek availability  till March and even that is dependent on European progress. Not ideal situation.

Also noted end of calendar year financial figures released, looks like we have 33M in the bank, which when adjusted with recent transfer window activity, would be around 28M. I guess the bulk of this would be from the Tierney transfer. So it does demonstrate that Celtic are being well run and living within its means.

Thankfully the Cup match was played and resulted in an easy Celtic win with the added bonus of a rest for several of our big hitters. The high wind made conditions very difficult but Celtic were always well in control. Ollie put us ahead with a cross shot from just outside the area. Celtic were starting to annoy with over elaboration and Polish Paddy wasted a good chance when 1 on 1 with the keeper . Shortly after he glanced on a corner for Brown to Poke home at the near post.

2-0 at HT and Celtic strolled through the 2nd half. Bain had very little to do. Celtic roused themselves in the closing stages and Bayo on as a sub made poor use of a few good chances. He always seems clumsy and uncoordinated. He did score just before the end when Bauer put it on a plate for him.

The real bonus was getting the game out of the way and we are away to St Johnstone in the last 8.

All positive yesterday. And seem to be turning the corner with injuries now, just at the right time. NL saying that both Bitton and ElHam start back today.

Great to get the result and rest the influential Eddy and CMcG, along with Griff.

Our 2 fullbacks done well, good to get 90min each, along with Christi, can see him getting back to his best, unlucky with a few pot shots, will come. Also a run for some of our fringe players.

Ollie and Brown outstanding. Mo Ely got a decent run out, great to see him back.

Now that we have Christie back firing on all cylinders, would be an ideal opportunity to give Forrest some rest against Hearts, maybe have him on the bench, Christie comfortable to play that right side.

Just seen the goals. Very convincing win. 2 from corners. Noted Taylor had an assist on 2. Shocking "tackle" on Brown.

All good old news tonight. Looking forward to seeing Boyd's expression on Sunday. Hopefully another 3 points to leave him looking more miserable.

Good first half, outstanding second half.

Ollie and Taylor were our best 2, but whole team could not be faulted.

Bench looked strong, another clean sheet.

Shocking hack on Brown but you just got to love the way he gets up and like says to the guy "that didn't even hurt"

Don't understand, when the 3rd goal went in, its game over and only 52nd min, why the like of Brown and Eddy were not immediately replaced, with 2 tough games coming up in the next week, both ended up playing the full game???

Yes, am also looking to checking out the fat pie mans coupon on Sunday.
